Yesterday in La Mesa, I met with local seniors at San Jose Catholic Church, where a monthly mobile food pantry helps neighbors make ends meet. We talked about the growing challenges they face, from rising pharmacy costs to rent increases to trying to stretch fixed incomes further each month.

Today I visited Carlsbad Medical Center—a rural hospital at risk of having to cut services or close its doors due to Republicans’ devastating Medicaid cuts. Without CMC, kids would miss their yearly check ups, expectant mothers would go without prenatal care, and seniors would lose long-term care.
