I really enjoyed Never Whistle At Night, a collection of dark short stories by Indigenous writers. Especially liked Quantum by Nick Medina, Collections by Amber Blaeser-Wardzala and The Prepper by Morgan Talty, but they're all very good

I find a character's interiority is what affects me the most. If a character I love is suffering and freaking out internally, that has a much bigger impact on me than blood and gore. So I really try to lean into their mental state during the ordeal. #HorrorWritersChat
