My last film at Fantastic Fest was Whistle. I enjoyed it overall. There were some absolutely fantastic kill scenes. It kinda had a Final Destination/Flatliners vibe. Definitely aiming to become a franchise. This one comes from IFC & Shudder, so I don’t know if it will get a theatrical release or not

Saw Crushed at Fantastic Fest. Wow! I went in blind with no expectations. Not a Horror film yet horrific. All kinds of content warnings on this film, but it never really goes as far as it could, yet I feel that it went pretty far enough. At its core, it’s a film about faith. I’ll leave it at that.

Just got out of Primate at Fantastic Fest. What a fun Horror film. Think Cujo with a chimpanzee. Definitely a Slasher film with a lot of the same tropes, but also a good When Animals Attack movie. Tons of gruesome fun!

Watched Vieja Loca (Crazy Old Lady) today at Fantastic Fest. A film from Argentina written & directed by Martín Mauregui. Argentina is killing it with the Horror films! Loved it!

HIM was everything I hoped it would be and more! It’s a work of art that can be watched multiple times and enjoyed each viewing. This film has layers. I heard it grew too dreamlike at the expense of plot and story, but I found the narrative easy to follow. LOVED every minute of this film!

I put off mowing the lawn long enough. It’s Texas. I don’t water the lawn. The grass hardly grows, but it needed to be cut. I put my headphones on and a Synthwave playlist. I felt like part of a montage in an 80s coming of age drama, but then copious plumes of dust, and I realized, it was a comedy.

I went to see the new Toxic Avenger last night with friends. If you have any interest in seeing this, I highly recommend seeing in the theater. The visuals are amazing, but the audio is so amazing! It’s a full experience you won’t get at home. I absolutely loved it! I was in tears from laughing 🤣
