Today has been spent learning more solitaire card games. I’m a little obsessed. Also….. my first ever game of cribbage in real life. I could be hooked. ☺️

Watching snooker semi finals while playing another great design by Mark Tuck! Snooker solitaire. Gosh where has this game been all my life. It’s got my name written all over it.

Late to the party. I am conflicted over this. I’m having a lovely relaxing time, which is what the doctor ordered. But at the same time I’m like “why am I doing this?!” 😂. Half way through year 4 and I doubt it will be packed away from the table until the game is complete. What a weird vibe.

2 yrs ago when I was quite stressed and moving jobs, I couldn’t face complex games or rules. I picked qwirkle up for a holiday and now, it’s just one of those games I turn to when I’m trying to relax. My relaxation cocktail of games is currently a blend of qwirkle, azul, toy battle and fromage. 💜

An afternoon walking around Torquay in the “English riviera” complete. Now…. Recharge with a few games of ‘scoundrel’. What a great little solo game!

Underrated

Sometimes a classic just keeps on hitting. We haven’t played Splendor in so long, but we’re both tired, ready for a classic engine build and we had a solid time!

Just played draftosaurus and my immediate thought was “oh I remember how peaceful this is- why has it taken us 3 years to pull off the shelf again!”

Who have I become …. A bit like my old self perhaps? Just starting book 3 since Christmas. A light easy fun fiction just hits a spot for me. Thanks to Richard Osman for helping me find a bit of myself again! After about 10-15 years of forgetting what a book can do for me.

I don’t think, whilst I’m breathing on this earth, that I’ll ever please the planning department of sprawlopolis. Another fail!

I last played Champions of Midguard 4 years ago. I was so put off by the theme but it’s such a banger. Love sending my warriors out to fight. I think the combo of worker placement and combat just works !

Just finished the game Gris on switch. I think it’s the most beautiful, moving game I have played in analogue or digital format. Ever. At a time when I’m working on preparing for grief that I know is coming at some point this year, it’s been really helpful. 10/10

Fliptoons is a game I enjoy as you get through the majority of the deck in each play. Theres something a little weird / clunky about it that I can put my finger on but…. Solid replayable card game - 8/10 for me.

My friends love qwirkle so I bought flex to show them next weekend. I think they’ll like it. Looking forward to showing them 🙂

Today, for a bit of self care, whilst my partner is on a hospital visit, I’m claiming playing a few solo games in peace with tea and music 💜

2025 has been a bit harsh, and Christmas has involved a lot of hospital visiting / juggling various challenges but…. A festive moment here for the bank: Meggie having a pose with her Christmas dog friend!

Saturday morning relaxation

Played harmonies today (first time in quite a while) and I don’t think I like it 🫣. Sometimes, for me, a game is too many different puzzles all at once and my brain just shouts “boring” at me.

Distracting myself from life complexities with another underplayed card game from my collection. Card drafting is something I quite like in games. This does it in a neat, clean way. 7/10

It’s been a long time since I’ve payed Valley of the Kings. Don’t regret ditching premium version and replacing it with the tiny compact OG version at all.

A different Saturday night for me. No board games but 9 friends got together to do a murder mystery evening party. The party, theme, characters, group etc was 10/10 by the actual “mystery” was less than optimal. Wish we’d got together to play mysterium, awkward guests or the traitors! 😂

Skulk hollow for the first time in 4 years

It’s hard to re-learn a game that’s been unplayed for 4 years…. When she wants constant attention. But that girl is the boss around here!

Bad day … can be made better with wine, nachos and castle combo. Weird mix but it’s working for me!

Underrated- Tactiki by draw lab games. Played 4 times in 2 days. Now… back to toy battle!
