Tonight I saw the play: "Here There Are Blueberries" and thought the stage production almost rivaled "Dear Evan Hansen" in staging - it was brilliant. I also cried almost through the whole play, and I think others did too. I went to Auschwitz on January 28th 2001 - the day after 'liberation day'

Yesterday's baking project was: shortbread-esque cookies filled w/ punched-up Nutella. I don't have a recipe for this one, but I'll put the steps in a second post. These are super easy & a huge hit every time. More than once I have brought these for the first day of a new job, & became a hero 😉🍪

Yesterday, I made graham cracker mini-tarts b/c the shells were taking up space in my pantry & I actually don't like them 😉 I made an almond butter & maple syrup paste, pressing it gently up the sides. Then filled them w/ chocolate granche & will serve w/ whipped cream. #baking #chocolatetarts

Continuing w/ baking projects, last night I made Ina Garten's Outrageous Brownies. I'm including a copies of the recipes for what I'm making & a note on this one: The original made 24 HUGE brownies & used 2lbs of chocolate. I scaled it down for a 9X9 pan & 16 normal sized pieces. #baking #brownies

January 4, 2018 in Iceland. We picked up the rental car at 11AM as the moon was still high in the sky and it wasn't yet light. True daylight was pretty much b/w noon and 3PM, which I enjoyed while I was there, but it did make driving in the country a little harrowing.

I spent a week at Xmas in Copenhagen seven years ago. My hotel was just a few blocks from the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum, where I fell in love w/ a particular marble statue. I ended up going there for breakfast more than once so I could see my new friends again :-) #copenhagen #carlsbergmuseum

Today, I finished my New Yorkers through June '22 & am damn proud of myself! During the pandemic, I cleared my backlog from 2010 to 2019 (huge!) but today, it's more babysteps, though always thrilled w/ progress! These ads however, remind me how much change can happen in a short period of time...😉

Wow, I actually went through and *looked* at each of these photos, I didn't just scroll through, because they were so amazing. As someone who goes to a fair amount of music events, I pay special attention to concert photos - and these are truly some of the best quality shots I've seen.

Horrible picture; but it was the best I could do... Aloysius and Bjorn will always live in an apartment, so they don't have collars. They aren't yet 2 yo, & when I put these items around their necks last weekend, they were VERY confused. But surprisingly, they accepted it after about 5 minutes 🎄

I'm putting together my Xmas letter (a little late!) & decided my theme this year would be "joy." The world hasn't done well in that category this year, so I want to celebrate when that was more common. And as such, my annual letter is just pictures of me & friends during really happy times :-)

Last night, a friend & I saw Warren Dunes at #KEXP - part of their private shows for Amplifiers. I have seen this band 2X before & they don't disappoint. Not sure how to describe their musical subcat, except: I usually 'sway' listening to them rather than 'rock out.' 😉 Great Monday night 🎶🎵

My 2 cats are med-haired & littermates, yet their fur texture is very different. Aloysius' fur is thicker & more structured, whereas Bjorn's is more feathery. This causes Bjorn to have poop 'issues.' So, he gets a "Brazilian" every 8 weeks & got one this AM :) Embarrassing cats on #caturday 😹

Thirty years ago tonight! I definitely remember that I used to blow-dry my hair straight, and I weirdly look blond in all my pictures growing up, when actually my hair is light brown 🤷‍♀️

Yesterday, a friend's son - who is getting his first apartment on his own - asked for the advice we wish we had received when we got our first place. My answer: don't buy a WHITE toilet bowl brush. You will replace it in less than 1 year with a black one, and you will keep that one for 20 years.

A&C orgs. are all having member appreciation week right now & they've been fantastic. Thursday was a lecture at the Seattle Art Museum & Saturday was breakfast & a private tour at The Frye. These are small things, but they have huge community impact. It might be silly, but I love them 💚

Monday, I saw Lucius; as a "treat" for my level of KEXP Amplifier. They were great; I loved the show. Only negative: the show was supposed to start at 12 & normally they always start on time, but this one was an hour late. My guest had to leave before the first song. Not upset but a little sad...

A friend & I saw Patti Smith Sunday night as part of the Seattle Arts & Lecturers series. She was funny, low key, & profound about childhood: "we played outside for 14 hours a day in the summer!" Then the night ended with her, & the audience singing a Chrissie Hynde song. It was a great night!

When I was making the bed yesterday, I had to move Aloysius while I was folding the blanket. I'm convinced this is what he was thinking... Happy #caterday from Aloysius and Bjorn 😸

My 80yo mom lives in The Villages & yesterday we canceled her plane ticket to Seattle for T-Day b/c she's worried about the shutdown affecting air travel. She will be w/ friends, but she (& her friends) are PISSED OFF about how this is hurting families, esp. during the holidays. This matters...

While this wouldn't exactly be my list (though there is some overlap), I need to keep reminding myself of this in general...

Last night, I went to see my friend's band: Death by Overkill, play a great show at #BabaYaga here in #Seattle They were one of 4 bands - all of whom were really good, and for a Thursday night - the crowd mostly stayed to the end and seemed to be having a fantastic time 🎶🎵

I saw this in previews 2 weeks ago and can attest that it is delightful!
