I've lived here most of my life. I've known many of our city council members. I even helped get some elected in previous elections (nobody who was running this cycle). But this slate was more progressive than ever. And CO municipal elections are "nonpartisan." People are voting for principles.

I agree with this thread, but I also need to add one thing: The idea that progressives can't win in conservative areas? We need to challenge that, and after this election, we can.

87 votes is enough to cure in a margin of error. 87 votes is often close enough to trigger a recount. This is incredible. Don't let the establishment tell you otherwise.

My fucking state (CO) said we (continue to) fucking feed kids and we tax the really well-off to do it. And it's passing by a pretty staggering ratio. I'm waiting for school board results. But I'm hopeful that we knocked it out of the park.

You: There're hardly any Halloween songs. Me, an intellectual: there are only like twelve recognized Christmas songs, they just get sung over and over by every artist. But any song can be haunted if you put it in a minor key.

My neighborhood had about half as many houses handing out candy as usual, but everyone who was, was more generous than normal. We only handed out 2/3 of our food bags, but *every* adult and most of the teens expressed gratitude at the option.

There's a broken stair right by my ex's apartment, and if that isn't the most metaphorical literal problem.

Now that all that's done. I did decide to pull together some food packs for if trick-or-treating families want them. I put together twelve, because math reasons for multi packs of things. I did stuff my family will eat, in case they don't all get picked up.

It has been zero days since Galileo did a mischief.

One of the 14s came to me like a week and a half ago and asked me to help them be Zelda (BotW/TotK, the blue kingdom one) for Halloween. I (mostly) don't sew. I craft out of clay and other materials. And I cut, pin, and glue strategically. Challenge accepted, as usual.

Every time someone sets out to "teach someone how to stretch their dollars" "now that they can't access SNAP" they reach for basic cooking techniques. Babes. You can't buy hot cooked food on SNAP. People know how to heat up a can of beans and make mac n cheese.

It's like 22 degrees out currently, and 50 inside my greenhouse (with an indoor space heater turned to the lowest setting). The plants, they're alive.

The first actual freeze is tonight, but I got all my plants transplanted and into the greenhouse in time 💪 (Though I don't have an Adequate space heater for that space yet, so here's hoping it stays warm enough inside there to keep everything alive)

I'm making an enormous batch of tomatillo salsa because my tomatillos don't know when to quit.

I transplanted some of my garden plants to pots for the winter, and moved them into the greenhouse... ... which now is 60% humidity in response. As opposed to 20% yesterday. Good job, eggplants.
