Great thread. In all seriousness, I think the ImmSim is born in D&D (Chainmail) which splintered off from mass combat sims with miniatures (abstracted, disembodied, multiple characters, ‘roll playing’) and moved toward ‘role playing’ a single, embodied, dramatic character.
