I like, maybe five people. On a good day. Updated: There are no good days now.
Woke up with this on repeat in my head. Figured maybe exorcizing it here might help me get rid of it.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque: "This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I did my good deed of the week by giving masks to the people around me at today's production of Hadestown who were getting visibly anxious about a particular clearly should've been in bed cougher a few seats down and behind me (but more directly behind them). I always have about 6-8 extra ones.

's best cover song is a gross misjustice and makes me doubt my fellow XPNers. This song is EVERYTHING a cover song should be. (And yes, it was in my top ten).

My favorite performance of this Christmas classic now & forever. (The family has to put up with me doing all the parts whenever this come on. They used to try & leave the room but I'd follow them so now they just ride it out. Living with me is not for the faint of heart.)

When I hit the trifecta of tapestry stitching, reruns of Cold Case, & speed reading one book a night from a light & easy mystery series, that's when I've hit the denial stage on how out of hand my trifecta of depression/stress/anxiety is. On the upside, almost done with half the current design!

According to the article the bowhead whale can live up to 200 years because of how they can repair damaged cells & so show scientists a new direction in curing cancer. Too bad this admin (& others) are hell bent on destroying their habitat. Honestly, we don't deserve to share the Earth with them.

#3. Both Reeves & Winters were very good, and Durdin & Thornton as Pozzo and Lucky were superb. I am a fan of Jamie Lloyd's productions, even though I'll also admit they can be a little..anti typical theater in order to then be overly theatrical (if that makes sense) so I enjoyed the direction too.

No one ever has my answer to the question what's the one travel essential you won't leave home without. My vodka spray (in approved TSA sized bottle) keeps clothes fresh, can be used as a disinfectant, and im a pinch can calm nerves (if you haven't added any scented oils to it).

Do I have an actual *notebook* with the names of all the movies and shows and miniseries and documentaries I'd like to watch? Yes. Do I then end up rewatching McDonald and Dodds episodes for the 4th or 5th time, or my favorite Poirot and Marple episodes for the nth time? Also and very much so yes.

Fnally updated our home office situation so we are on different floors & opposite ends of the house & rooms with doors so someone doesn't have to hear the other's hyperfixation song of the day for 8 hours straight & someone else gets a reprieve from Hank Williams which is apparently coding music.

Just thinking again how Democrats asked people to accept short-term suffering in order to give space to prevent long-term, worse suffering and then said, "Thanks for suffering in the short-term. You'll get to suffer long-term too so that our Thanksgiving plans don't get disrupted."

I absolutely believe this, too. Contrary to the belief that they couldn't band together to push through the ACA subsidy, they likely mostly banded together to do just the opposite. This kind of political play is something even kids back home know about, it's so prevalent as to be an open secret.

I think the "good old Democrats" actually got more scared by Tuesday's results than the Republicans b/c they realized that people are now past the "as long as it's any Democrat" way of thinking and they're just as much at risk as the GOP. And they're gonna kiss up now to 'save' their own sorry asses

I feel more like this with every passing year. We need a party that is committed to preserving, protecting & improving life. We don’t need people intent on endlessly negotiating how much humanity we deserve or if we deserve any at all. We don’t need a society built around manufactured scarcity.

I think one of the biggest aspects of Mamdani's win isn't just the immigrant &/or Muslim &/or socialist representation. It's that he is the child of a film maker/director a & professor of poli-sci/anthro/African Studies. He's the product of a household that emphasized the arts & cultural studies.

I was looking at the breakdown of votes for Sherrill versus the other guy and once again Black voters almost unanimously carried the vote for her. Also, white women continue to suck. 49% of us thought being under the thumb of a patriarchy is a grand place to be.

He is the one pop star that my entire family- my 9 yr old self, my 17 yr.old sister and my 40 something year old parents all loved wholeheartedly. I remember when his Prince Charming video aired on Top of the Pops my dad called him a class act for casting Diana Dors (the "British Marilyn") in it.
