Just saw Data at the Lucille Lortelle. It was very good and very targeted towards current events. The lead,Karan Brae, played the Indian friend in the original Diary Of A Wimpy Kid movie and, well, I'm old. Also he was fantastic.

The bookseller most impressed w/ our haul from their store (they all were, but this one was the most vocal) was the co-owner of Bodies In The Bookstore in Cambridge. Which yes, is an all "Crimes" (i.e. Mystery for US folk) bookstore w/ both new & secondhand books. J was, of course, in his element.

Baggage handler at EWR who helped pull our suticases from behind the others lumped in front lf them:" What do you have in here, bricks?!!" J and me together:" No, just books." (I won't tell you how many we bought [new &secondhand] cos it's a ridiculous amount even for us. #bookcollector #booklover

Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license. They can't even escape this by moving to another state.

And any trans person arrested under this will be placed in units of their sex assigned at birth. For trans women, this means v coding, rape, and sexual assault. They'll also be denied access to hormones and forced to detransition. I can't begin to tell you just how cruel all this is.

I have a horrible sinking feeling that this means the police will purposefully looking for and running license plates aligned with these drivers' licenses to arrest them. Which I'm sure the people affected are thinking same. On top of potentially losing jobs or unable to make [medical] appointments.

I had a great day at work today b/c I managed to save four people's jobs who weren't even on my team but who I knew more about than their so called managers of several years did and went to bat for them when their own managers wouldn't cos they're suck ups who don't want to jeapordize their own job.

Everytime I see the panic people get into over a snowstorm and the run on the grocery stores I am reminded of how Baba would say if civil war broke out in this country it'd go Lord of The Flies on itself in less than two weeks. Also, why do people act like this is their first snowstorm each time?!

I loved Julia, Sandra Newman's retelling of 1984 from the character's viewpoint, but felt a bit let down w/ where & how the book ended vs. where I thought it should've.
