Sorry to my American friends but as a Canadian it’s very difficult to imagine our country’s relations normalizing anytime soon. The way Canada has been treated has caused a fundamental shift in how my country perceives the United States. You’ve become a quasi existential threat to us.

The only travel I will do to the USA for the foreseeable future is unavoidable travel paid by my employer. My family and I are avoiding any made in USA purchases. #canada #Proudcanadian

Was out snowshoeing in a snowstorm today. The snow made it very picturesque.

I’m a Canadian living in Canada and I see a lot of Americans expressing outrage with the Trump government. When is the American public going to protest? Where are the Democrats? From where I sit it appears there is little public opposition. Not my country but I see a lot of T’s&P’s.

We had a big dump of snow over night so my son and I went snowshoeing in Bronte Creek Provincial Park. He’s an #autistic person and he absolutely loves the sensory experience it provides. He’s getting faster though which makes it harder on me ;)

Currently watching “The Silent Service” on Prime. It’s a Japanese submarine drama based on a manga from the 80s. Certainly not realistic in many respects but my Wife who is Japanese made the following point: remember the original manga was set in the 80’s. It was a response to US attitudes to Japan

I fully expect Canada will (and should) respond to the US tariff with retaliatory measures. I also wonder about exit clauses in the F-35 order. Can we cancel and buy Swedish Gripens instead? Time to find out who our international friends are now. EU is also something we should explore.

Back from a conference in Orlando. Sadly, this is the most I got to enjoy the pool as I walked past it to the conference centre each day. Still, it was a nice winter break.

Sadly, I haven’t found Trump’s recent behaviour towards Canada surprising. Having said that, it really angers me and it’s insulting to my country.

Out for a drive as it snowed. Road was a quiet, picturesque country road so I took a quick snap.

Using my wife’s bread maker for the first time to make gluten free bread as I’m #celiac. Beyond the GF challenge the biggest challenge for me is that it’s a 10year old Japanese machine. Perhaps foolishly I relayed on my basic Japanese language skills. So far so good as nothing is on fire/smoking.

My son visited HMCS Haida, last of the Tribals this summer. He’s an autistic person and I wasn’t sure if he would enjoy it. He loved it! The Parks Canada Crew were amazing with him and he proudly has a HMCS Haida hat on display on his bedside table. #naval 🗃️ #canadianhistory #navalhistory

Was out on the #roadbike today when I stopped for a water break here. Alway interesting to encounter #history in #Canada. Just to be clear I was respectful and the burial markers are further down a path and up a small hill. This is just the entrance. 🗃️

Had a few mins before a meeting this morning and took this photo at the #Toronto Fairmont Royal York Hotel overlooking the lobby and Clockworks cocktail bar. They had a big renovation a few years ago and the result is sleek and modern while honouring the heritage aspects IMO.
