How many copies of your TTRPG would you have to sell to call it a commercial success? Also, what needs to happen for you to call your game an artistic success? Is it easy for you to acknowledge success or is it always elusive?

It was @morkborg.com - a proof that you don't need 300 pages of rules and detailed descriptions of intricate political systems and tables for climbing to have both great ruleset and amazing lore/world. The other one was Dread, which nailed the ludonarrative harmony in a way no other TTRPG does.

Creative work is maybe 10% creative and 90% work. The final product is, well, a product of many small things: iterations, testing, sometimes just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. Ideas are cheap. Execution is what makes those ideas happen. And that's difficult.

Should I do a PhD? I'm not sure if I need one, but I'll have a good opportunity, so... Maybe. Fun fact: I nearly ended up starting one 8 years ago, but backed off at the last minute. Looking back, maybe for the best.

I was, a few times, really, really close to working full time on some of the biggest IPs in the world. And I think, in the long run, that it was for the best that I didn't get those jobs. It wasn't the time nor the place for me, I needed to just go with my own flow and try things on my own. 1/2
