UK government issued turquoise and red NI card contains the bearers full name and NI number. The number is linked to HMRC. Can be used in conjunction with photo ID such as passport or driving licence. No need for digital ID afterall. The Gov making Digital ID optional is the thin end of the wedge.

I still have a perfectly good, clearly under utilised, UK government issued National Insurance card. This number is linked directly to HMRC. Along with presenting a photo ID like passport or Driving Licence to an employer, means there’s no need for wasting money on introducing Digital ID. 2010 again
