What is everyone's opinion of Cardinal art that has the beak yellow instead of the true reddish color? While it's inaccurate, even the great Charley Harper depicted some of his Cardinals with a yellow beak. I'm designing a knit afghan and can't decide on the beak. 🪶

New yard bird! I was looking at my feeder and at first thought I was seeing a Chipping Sparrow (highly unlikely for rn in Pittsburgh) but it was an Am Tree Sparrow! 🪶

So today was supposed to be the day that I knit the last rows for my year long temperature blanket. I just started the Sept rows yesterday, LOL! I got way behind and couldn't catch up. 🧶

Also found on video that a chipmunk managed to access the bird feeder. I thought I had them foiled with the new posts but the little rascal climbed up the tiered planter and jumped across. It's hard to tell from the video, but it was a pretty big gap to jump across! Mid October, SW PA.

Finally got to reviewing vids from the old trail cam before I set up the new Blink camera. Was surprised to see a Dark-eyed Junco show up mid October. Just seemed a little early! 🪶

Interesting to get a Dark-eyed Junco at my aviarium. They usually just feed on the ground. It is a dark gloomy snowy afternoon here.🪶

Hubby and I were driving home & he says "Look at that chicken". So I look up from my phone and the "chicken" was a Black Vulture feasting on a road killed racoon. Obviously, my husband doesn't know birds, and a Black Vulture is noted as a rarity for the Pittsburgh area. Yay me, finally saw one! 🪶 🥧

The nor'easter a couple of weeks ago caused a lot more than usual shells on OC MD beaches. I don't think I've ever found one this intact all the years I've been going there! I cleaned off a lot of crusty stuff and gave it a light polishing. I believe this is a Knobbed Whelk. 🐚#beachcombing
