Nina & Julie spoke about Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's co-produced Suicide Prevention, Safety Planning & Risk Assessment Training. Darren from Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust provided an update on the Trust’s progress with moving away from risk stratification.

Based on our evidence from studies of mental health services, primary care and accident and emergency departments we have developed a list of 10 key elements for safer care for patients from which we have developed our NCISH toolkit.

Our Annual Report 2025 provides findings related to people who died by suicide between 2012-2022 across the UK & Jersey. We also present findings on the number of people under #MentalHealth care who have been convicted of homicide, & those in the general population in the UK.

We recently published a national review of higher education student suicide deaths. This is the largest national study to conduct a detailed examination of individual factors related to suicide in higher education students.

In February, Dr Leah Quinlivan was joined by Prof Rory O’Connor to discuss the Integrated Motivational-Volitional Model of suicidal behaviour. Dr Seonaid Cleare also talked about using this model to explore the relationship between suicide risk and ADHD.

We heard from Dr Lynsay Matthews at the second learning event who presented research on premenstrual disorders, perimenopause, mental health and suicide. Hat Porter presented their research on menstrual health in psychiatric in-patient settings.
