Better planning and communication from BC Parks and the Province could have avoided some of the tension and confusion around this closure. It’s unfortunate that these dates were decided on so late, and I will advocate for more clarity and certainty for the 2026 season and beyond.

This fall, the Ministry of Environment and Parks has officially closed the park between Sept. 2 and Oct. 3. In the spirit of reconciliation, I urge all park users to observe this closure to allow for cultural reconnection, land stewardship, and healing.
