My 12-year old daughters donated one of their favourite stuffies for me to leave at the memorial in Tumbler Ridge. It’s heartbreaking just to think of them not coming home safely from school today and every day.

As discourse around this situation becomes political, as it always does in situations like this, we need to remember to centre the victims. Speculation is not helpful. Demonizing groups of people for the actions of an individual is not helpful.

North Saanich urgently needs affordable housing, and I hope the special advisor delivers real results. I’m encouraged by the municipality’s willingness to work with the province to increase housing supply. This advisor creates an opportunity for faster input and better outcomes—but it must deliver.
