Kids are dying of measles. Not because their parents are refusing the MMR vaccine, but because it simply isn't available. Vaccines are amazing. Ineffective governments & supply chains too often get in the way.

It might be a day or two — or potentially longer — before health officials in DRC can determine what is the cause of an outbreak in a remote part of the country where 382 cases, 79 of them fatal, have been reported. Samples had to be transported >500 km for testing.

Interesting to see that a dairy herd in Colorado is back in quarantine for
#H5N1
#birdflu
. CO hasn't had positive herds for a while. This herd was first confirmed in early Aug, but was out of quarantine by 9/8 & was still out of quarantine in late Oct. What happened here? New introduction?
