I'm personally such a sucker for trope subversion so any kind of not wanting to be soulmates, purposely seeking out someone who is not your soulmate to spite fate, soulmates as a horror concept as in you don't know this person and you might love someone else now but the universe will force your hand

I'm also just a huge fan of characters choosing to be with each other in spite of their soulmarks, maybe they have similar soulmarks but not the exact ones but maybe over time those marks look closer and closer to the same as their bodies change over time idk idk I just think it's beautiful

I've been toying with a soulmate + reincarnation au idea where the red string of fate goes to a dull gray if your soulmate dies and returns bright red when they're reborn and all the angst that goes with seeing the red slowly bleeding out of the string again...

I'd say 'soulmate identifier'. I read this post on tumblr like 10yrs ago where you only see colour of your soulmate's eye colour and that kinda stuck with me >.<

While I love all sorts, I also really like when it's not an obvious thing tying them together like colors or red string, but something where they've met lifetime after lifetime. The beauty of their love being so strong it's destined to always happen normal matter who or where they are 🥹

i specifically love when it's a soul mark au but one of them develops their mark later in life or something angsty like that…… also big fan of the soulmate au where the characters see the world in black and white until they meet their soulmate and then see colors 🥺

I fear my last entry in the exchange makes this one painfully obvious… but truth be told, they all are so creative and fun! I’m a fan of people seeing each other and it just… /clicks into place/. Something is holding you, drawing you to each other but you can’t put your finger on it. You just know.
