G&T Sunset. Double glazed windows. Pigeon coming in for last treats.

Yesterday evening a couple friends, Matt and I went on an organised Nightjar Walk in Coulman’s Hatch in Ashdown Forest, UK. Not only did we see a couple nightjars, but also woodcock, and a few other birds I now can’t remember the names of 🌳🌅🐥

Yesterday I went out for lunch. Came home with a poorly pigeon. Greenwich Wildlife Network (UK) picked them up late last night. I hope they’re doing alright 🐦❤️‍🩹🥲

Dad finished his cancer treatment yesterday. He rang the bell 🔔 F*ck cancer.

I had a random vision of arriving in ‘heaven’, and being told “Your friends have been waiting for you” It looked like this… 🕊️🥹💞 (I’m fine… just a VERY random moment - hormones and full moon)

Dad has been diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer - could have been much worse. Just had a brilliant chat on FaceTime with my parents - they are quite optimistic about it all. Their consultant sounds fabulous. He’ll have a mix of radiation and hormone therapy. Fuck cancer.

After two years of first communications, and seven months of actual work commenced… We have windows and a sealed flat! Wow. I can breathe again through both nostrils.

As I was walking past rough sleeper on High Street, she asked if I had spare change. I didn’t. I apologised, gave her a peace sign with my hand & wished her well. She called after me, saying “You reminded me of that show!” Held up her hand & quoted “Nanu Nanu!” I repeated back ✌️🥲🤍 #MorkAndMindy

Any UK mouse knowledge? Matt came home earlier today with this wee one cowering by outside front door. They were hiding from neighbour’s cat. Matt kept them safe, while they composed themself, before running into front garden foliage. We think a yellow-necked mouse, since we are South London?

You know when you’re having a “down” day. It feels pretty low. Randomly, someone came up to me, and said “I’m sorry to be weird, but your energy is really bright.” It made my day 🥰 I was crying yesterday.

I met up with friends in park during my lunch break today. When this one recognised me, and wanted attention / peanuts 🐦💚💜

Just came home from Art Club. Tonight we made moveable 2D puppets with only paper and split pins. There should be a market for Dr. Martens for pigeons 🐦🥾😅

I’d been coveting an “oversized sweatshirt”, from Colourful Standard (£60). It felt too expensive. Went charity shop, and found a green sweatshirt in good nic for £9. Well pleased 💚

I had a bit of a cancer scare. For two weeks I had some rather distressing symptoms, which my GP immediately took seriously, and ordered necessary tests. Results came back today - clear / negative 🙌 If you are experiencing worrying symptoms, no matter how embarrassing - get checked out.

Day four of learning watercolour painting and also channelling my inner @13pigeons.bsky.social with her amazing work using lots of lovely purple!!! Saw some artwork in Cornwall which inspired me to recreate that feeling of being fast and loose with colour and sketching. #watercolour #gull

Went park today to feed pigeons. Had the most endearing interaction with a young family with two little children. Both parents and kids were well gentle and “not afraid”, to help me feed the birds. It’s such a beautiful reminder that kindness exists in what feels like a troubling world 🐦💞☮️

I adore that Matt has adopted my notion that tea (whether type or mood) requires a specific mug. This time, his decaf tea is Canada mug 🫖

Matt has become a Pigeon King 🐦👑💖 Naughty, loves being close to his face. And Matt, adores hearing her little breaths / snorfles in his ear 💞

This GORGEOUS woman too saw Gates fly down for new peanuts, and showed me this “casting call” bulletin. I’ll check the board tomorrow. We had a lovely chat. Her name was… started with a G, surname Bowie. She is involved with South London entertainment. Thank you 🙏 (Gates is in background)

Instead of people shouting abuse at me from cars. I had a lovely man roll down his car window to say “God bless you!”, as I was feeding Gates (a regular pigeon), by Bridge just now 🐦🥜🥰 (Not actual photo - just one for interest)

I was irresponsible & completely ran out of peanuts. I dipped into my posh, yet plain and shelled pistachios to feed the pigeons. They were not impressed. (At least the crows & woodie enjoyed) I’ve literally seen them eat the most undesirable things 🤮 - yet my expensive nuts were not good enough 😅

Spent the morning at The V&A with work. While there a woman complimented my outfit. I managed an embarrassed “Thank you”, before blurting out “My coat cost £2!” Why am I like this 😅

This year has proven difficult to be creative. Our rotten windows are (finally) being replaced. Our entire flat is a tip. One window however, was mis-measured - hence the boarded up space. It’s now my big space. I’ll have some time to play… work in progress (which ultimately will be discarded).

My new favourite apple 🍎 Never heard of a ‘Cosmic Crisp’. But they are well nice.

Met up with a friend over from Canada, on business. No matter where we go she attracts men. We were outside a pub in central London, while she finished her cig, and three men started chatting. All I had to do was mention my husband is from Croydon, the men scarpered. I am a c*ckblock 🙌

I can’t remember the last time I bought a “brand new” article of clothing. I love a charity shop & hand me downs from Matt. My new favourite hobby is mending old clothes badly. It all started with a discarded expensive jumper from Matt’s closet - two holes, then covering paint marks with patches.
