🔈Paper out! We turned the most fascinating phage host-switch mechanism, diversity-generating retroelements, into a programmable mutagenesis tool, DGRec. You can perform targeted hypermutation of any 50-200bp sequence directly in vivo in E. coli

Does an imbalanced gut microbiome worsen chronic kidney disease? By elucidating the ecological causes for changes in the gut microbiota composition during chronic kidney disease and its consequences for disease progression we were able to answer this question.

We're excited to share our lab's first lead paper! We developed OriGen, a language model trained to generate plasmid origins of replication. 🔄🦠 The model generates sequences that are significantly different from wild type origins and, remarkably, they allow for replication in vivo. Read it here ⬇️
