I finished part one of Chainsaw Man yesterday. I enjoyed it considerably. When I looked at fandom discussion of the series and frustrated opinions on the author, I can’t help but be reminded of the Folding Ideas video “Annihilation and Decoding Metaphor”. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way…

Update: Today’s new word is “Dacryoadenitis”, suspected to be related to the tonsillitis and oral chaos/mono-like symptoms I had the other week. Kinda a tricky thing to get a diagnosis for, though, since it presents partly as much more serious conditions.

Without being too “woe is me”, this is the third time I have been in hospital in as many days. Dealing with a situation that is strange and dramatic, but not immediately dangerous. Or, as the ER doctor put it, “I am seeing what you’re seeing and I am equally confused”. This fall is ridiculous.

With all the talk and fighting over “recommended reading/watch orders” and pressure to consume media in very prescribed ways, I feel we’ve lost a chaotic shared fandom experience and nerd conversation topic. So, what series did you encounter out of order? Or in the weirdest possible order?

I got fed up with being a women in sports media. I picked pharmacy at random. It turned out I had a good mind for sorting insurance claims, a decent intuition for sniffing out trouble, and a stubborn sense of justice that pushes for patient advocacy. My speciality was a complete fluke.
