The Tokyo House. ‘Coffee Rings’

Very cold, wet, windy and muddy day out on foot at Millington Pastures. Not the weather to be too precious sketching, so focused on some quick compositional thumbnails. No matter the weather, it’s still always a massive privilege to get out into the Yorkshire countryside with a sketchbook.

When I draw, my face is inches away from the paper and my hand moves slowly. Painting gives me the chance to sit upright, relax my shoulders and let my hands move freely. I don’t prefer one over the other- I just appreciate having the chance to work between the two.
