Hessle Foreshore. Oil on canvas. Social media seems to be full of people doing ‘big skies’ painting. However I notice very little process or narrative…just lots of beautiful studios with no spilt paint, artists who look like cover models and a lack of showing the actual windswept location.

I’ve drawn buildings for a long time now, but last year decided it’s time to return to abstract landscapes. I’ve always enjoyed oil on canvas work and want to make my subject matter more local. I live in East Yorkshire, so big skies and stretched horizons are a massive inspiration.
