CG250 is back from the printers, having received it an hour ago, so we’ll have some on sale at the EFL trophy match against Everton U21s this evening. CG250 has undergone a new design and we hope that CG readers will like it, though it has meant the cost of CG has gone up to £3.

Just to let everyone know that I’m still having difficulty getting CG249 printed at the moment, so it is not ready for sale yet. We are close to getting it printed next week and it should be on sale in 2 weeks at the Wimbledon home match. I’ll post more updates next week

I wasn’t able to get City Gent issue 249 printed and ready for sale today, just in case fans are wondering why there won’t be any CG presence at VP this afternoon. All being well, CG249 will be out in 2 weeks at the Luton home game. Here is the front cover cartoon as a teaser!

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the tragic and devastating fire at Valley Parade on May 11th 1985. We remember those fans that went to watch a game of football never to return home. Over 200 fans were badly injured and thousands have lived with awful memories of what they witnessed that day.

Delighted to have taken part in this event which opens on Friday May 9th at Leeds City Library. I’m also taking part in a panel discussion event with Q&As on Saturday 14th June.

You know how excited all bcafc fans were seeing Andy Cook running? Can you imagine if GA had the balls to list him as a sub but not thinking of using him, but then there’s an important penalty that needs to be taken. What a “boss” move it would be to put him on and then take him off after he scores!

Pundits have been joking about nobody seemed to be wanting to get promoted from League Two, but Doncaster and Port Vale both won today and congrats to them. But City and Walsall continue to shy away from taking their chance. Thanks to Accrington, it’s mad that it is still in City’s own hands!

Financially, I’m sure that it’s better for the club to go up via the playoffs, but this does nothing for, the collective nerves of the #bcafc fans who would forget all the terrible things that have happened in April for a win at Wembley in May. Trouble is, that’s not guaranteed is it?

Not happened yet, but if we miss out on automatic promotion it will have been our own fault. Thankfully there is still a chance of doing it the hard way via the playoffs, but the way we have played during April, you have to question if their heads from some of them have gone?

For all the good things that #bcafc did from Boxing Day to the end of March has all been undone by the way they have tackled the games in April. Truly dreadful month, barring the Crewe home win, and it’s been mostly self inflicted. Looks like it’s going to be the playoffs lottery now!

Been a busy couple of days at City Gent Towers and I’m happy to report that a 64 page issue CG248 has gone to print today. I’m hoping that the printed copies will be back at CG Towers next week in time to be sold at the Notts County home game on Thursday 17th April

Well done to the club and all the volunteers that placed the claret and amber cards on the seats which were held up to make Valley Parade a sea of colour this afternoon

Today’s win over Crewe makes it 51 points gained from 21 home league games which equals the record set by the 1984/85 title winning side gained. With 2 important home games left to play against Notts Co and Fleetwood, the record can be broken and it’ll be vital the we beat the Magpies on April 17th

The names of Lapslie and Mellon will be in the record books for scoring the goals tonight, but for me it was more about the assists by Tayo Adaramola and Jamie Walker. Without their tenacious and skilful play there wouldn’t have been the chances for Lapslie and Mellon to put away. Walker motm by far

Another win for Bradford City again this afternoon, 2-0 against MK Dons. That is now nine successive home wins which equals the record set back in the 1952/53 season. There was another run of nine successive home wins in 1962 but that stretched over the end of one season and the start of the next

I might be wrong, but I reckon that somewhere in Bradford today, a coach trip to London on April 13th was cancelled!

No disgrace in that performance against the leaders of League One. Heroic defeat as #bcafc more than matched the home side who know that their path to Wembley was not the walkover that they expected. Been a good and profitable cup run, but now to concentrate on the promotion run

If the referee had given a penalty to the home side I don’t think there could have been any complaints, but what a superb counter attack, sumptuous cross from Sarcevic and emphatic finish by Pointion from close range. 1-1 With Stansfield going off injured, there’s going to be a lot of added time

Damn! #bcafc did everything right in the first half up until the final minute of added time. Poor free kick to give away, poor punch from Walker from the free kick and punished by a classy finish by their star striker Stansfield.

CG247 turned up expectedly early from the printers last Friday afternoon and the subscription copies should be dropping through subscriber letterboxes this week. CG247 is available to order via the CG website and it will be on sale at VP on Saturday from 2pm when City play MK Dons.

I thought the pressing that all the team did last night was exemplary from the first minute to the last.

I’m happy that bcafc needed only one goal to beat Accrington Stanley tonight because Pattison’s howitzer deserved to be the winning goal. 8 home wins in succession is a remarkable achievement. I’ve just double checked the record books and there was an 8 game winning streak in the 1967-8 season

I’m really sad to hear the news about Andy Cook’s ACL which means he faces surgery and months of rehab. City will cope without him because they have to, but it’s devastating for the player and I wish him all the best for a full and speedy recovery.

There’s another chance to buy a copy of CG246 at VP this afternoon for those fans that missed us on Boxing Day. CG246 is still only £2 and full of interesting articles to read over what is left of the festive season, plus we have some copies left of CG245 which are now just £1.

Issue CG246 arrived from the printers yesterday and by this evening 90% of the subscription copies are now in the postal system. I hope that they’ll be arriving before this weekend. For non subscribers, copies can be ordered at the CG web site or Manny should be selling some at Notts County.

Hearing that former Bradford City manager John Docherty has died, aged 84. His 18 months in charge of City from 1991-1992 will not be fondly remembered as the feeling from the stands was “we want football” as the long ball play was both uninspired and ineffective. My ‘ransom note’ appeared in CG36.

Well done to everyone that has been nominated at the FSA awards and whoever wins the various prizes will be fully deserved. Due to my ongoing fatigue issues, a trip to London and back would be far too much for me, so I’m sending long serving CG subscriber Martin Hickey to represent CG tonight

Once again, manager Graham Alexander in his post match interview gaslights the fans by telling us the team played well enough to win the game! No they didn’t, they lost 1-0 to the team at the bottom of league two. Just for a change I wish he would just straight up say that they weren’t good enough!

So, to enhance the bcafc fan’s customer experience over the telephone, the club is now charging an admin fee of £1.50 per ticket! I’m intrigued as to who thinks that by paying extra for tickets makes the whole experience dealing with the club over the phone more enjoyable?

Sensible decision by the ref to call the game off early. Overnight snow is thawing fast and it’s raining now which would lead to a waterlogged pitch by 3pm. Football is supposed to be entertainment but unlikely to have been a good spectacle today in these conditions. Plus, the VP pitch isn’t ruined
