Hate* to say I told you so but the giant hogweed opposite the ice rink on Lea Bridge Road that I first flagged 3 years ago has gone nuclear. It's overhanging the footpath already. Thames Water say they're dealing with it (they're not). Enjoy some phototoxic burns! *Love

Sounds from a 5 minute cycle to swimming. (My daughter and I are now very keen to spot the goldcrest.)

Just heard it's red nose day today. Kids' school didn't do anything. Didn't see any giant red noses attached to the grilles of Ford Sierras. Has it had its day??

Beer Guide London

The Guide is saddened to hear of the passing of beer writer Des de Moor. He was generous in sharing his extensive knowledge of the London beer scene and it was always a pleasure to cross paths and compare notes. RIP Des, the next beer is for you π»

There are so many successful pubs that have zero cask ales. Latest visit was People's Park Tavern, Victoria park. Not even any bottles of brown stuff. I feel let down... Maybe by the punters? By the craft beer scene? By publicans? Can't quite explain it.

The worst bit about the end of a game of masters snooker is knowing that we'll then have to endure Rob Walker repeatedly slapping the winner's shoulder.

Cycling down to Screwfix, just saw my mate's stolen bike locked up to a tree (+ about 20 others). Bolt cutters added to the order, bike recovered! π₯π€ππππ₯

The glorified Thames Water / Mayor for London Refill Stations (aka taps π) outside both Tottenham Hale and Blackhorse Road tube stations have sprung major leaks thus turning the station entrances into ice rinks. πππ

Interesting cycle ride up to Wickes in Edmonton. Looks like the Harbert road wasteland by the A406 (with the Lea running through it) is being landscaped as parkland. Previously was a dump/pallet yard/fenced off no man's land. It's beginning to look...nice!

All sensible advice apart from suggesting commuters remove mudguards in the summer. Insanity! It rains just as much in the summer. Oh, and I almost never wash my bike.

Bar tape renewed. Leather this time - not Brooks, too expensive. Struggled to do it AS USUAL - I've done it dozens of times now but just enough time passes between attempts for me to completely forget how to do it.
