We did a thing today!

Good morning, Kristina (@nightkristina.bsky.social) here reporting on Exeter Trans Pride. We will shortly be heading over to England's worst GIC, The Laurels on Dixs Field, to gather - With a waiting list of 31 years for a first appointment.

This essay is a tour de force. To trans people, it reads as a grim reminder of the litany of indignities and travesties visited upon us by the UK government. To cis people, I hope, it is a bracing and sobering wake up call to how illiberal the UK and Labour have become. 1/ One additional thought:

The 8 year wait is down in the South West, where the wait is the longest in the country. This is one of the reasons we formed, to protest this neglect that destroys lives. Please remember that wait time whenever you hear someone say transgender health care is rushed.

Today we signed the @transactualuk.bsky.social letter to MPs across the UK, along with over 80 other organisations other Trans Prides and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups.

Calling all Trans, Intersex and Non-Binary Performers! We are seeking talented musicians, poets, comedy acts, and drag acts to perform at Trans Pride Exeter! Short slots (up to 3.5-minutes) will be available between speeches at Bedford Square.

With hostility rising in the UK media many Trans folks are left feeling unwelcome, unsafe and vulnerable. Something as human as needing to use a bathroom can be a high stakes, stressful situation. Safe spaces are valuable, and visible shows of support can help a great deal.

Today's judgement makes Trans Prides all the more relevant. Solidarity to all the community - and let's take time to figure out the implications of the legal changes for trans and/or non-binary people, and then come together and organise.
