This essay is a tour de force. To trans people, it reads as a grim reminder of the litany of indignities and travesties visited upon us by the UK government. To cis people, I hope, it is a bracing and sobering wake up call to how illiberal the UK and Labour have become. 1/ One additional thought:

The 8 year wait is down in the South West, where the wait is the longest in the country. This is one of the reasons we formed, to protest this neglect that destroys lives. Please remember that wait time whenever you hear someone say transgender health care is rushed.

With hostility rising in the UK media many Trans folks are left feeling unwelcome, unsafe and vulnerable. Something as human as needing to use a bathroom can be a high stakes, stressful situation. Safe spaces are valuable, and visible shows of support can help a great deal.
