On reflection, given that Transformers is a sprawling sci-fi franchise that allows me to collect Sets Of Things but also isn't suffering from Too Many Interconnected Shows Please Stop We Can't Keep Up because it's almost completely modular, it's a little surprising I didn't get into it sooner.

I don't think TF One gets enough credit for managing to revive the G1 setup of 'Decepticons as military coup and Autobots as the scrappy lower-class resistance' whilst still maintaining the now-expected revision of 'Decepticons as revolutionaries gone wrong', and combining them in a coherent way.
