I've adapted a lot of books, but this is the first time I've adapted my own. As always, it bears a strong resemblance to the book, but has become its own thing in the process.

I guess this opinion is ultimately complementary of the movie, but to say Jaws was a success because it was like television... really? It's genius big screen filmmaking on every level, from direction to screenplay to cinematography to the acting to the film score and the Oscar-winning editing.

I was 12 years old the first time I ever went to Mann's Chinese Theater. Never imagined my name would be up there on a giant movie poster one day. It's so hard to get a movie made, let alone one that gets a theatrical release. I hope you'll all go see this in the theater as it is meant to be seen!
