City Council just passed (48-1) my ordinance that updates the noise sensitive zone ordinance to support the diverse religious communities across Chicago. I’m proud to have worked alongside my colleagues & the Jewish United Fund of Chicago to protect places of worship from harassment.

Last summer, I called for data-driven enforcement of smoking on the CTA to increase safety, ridership, and revenue. Instead of hearing our call, Mayor Johnson issued an executive order and has now blown past his own reporting deadline. ⬇️

When scofflaws like this abuse the system, we all pay the price. Mayor Johnson may not want to act on debt collection, but bad actors should be held accountable and taxpayers deserve relief.

Amidst increasing faith-motivated hate crimes, our laws need to protect the diverse religious communities across our city. I’m proud that this ordinance that will protect religious communities from harassment is moving forward with the support of my colleagues and the Jewish United Fund.
