New illustration! Castle Market in Sheffield was a brilliant structure that housed everything from offices and shops to multiple floors of market stalls and cafes. Designed by Andrew Darbyshire, it was built in stages between 1959 and 1965. It was demolished in 2015.

The star of the newly opened V&A Storehouse is a piece of the demolished Robin Hood Gardens council estate. Seeing people 'feeling up' the concrete feels wrong on so many levels.. but hopefully it'll bring conversation on social housing into the mainstream.

Sheffield’s Park Hill Flats (1957-1961). The Parkway was one of the original four pubs on the estate. The Carling and Jubilee ads were cast directly into the concrete (Jubilee was a beer produced by now defunct Hope & Anchor Brewery in Sheffield). On my Etsy.
