I’m kinda requesting WOTC gives us back pioneer as a core format for RCQs and RCs. The format looks sweet but they just took away all the reasons for people to care.

I sincerely hope they choose to ban cauldron and not Vivi. I think Vivi played at face value (not able to go under a cauldron) is actually a great thing to have in a format. Big, splashy, scary effect that in reality is pretty easy to check if you're prepared for it.

Control players are the real villains of the standard format. Just the worst possible deck to play into vivi cauldron, but that won’t stop 20% of the player base from jamming mana leak and making the format miserable for people who are actually trying to beat vivi.

Is spiderman legal for the modern portion of the PT?

I drove a half hour to a nearby store for the Store Championship waited around for maybe 40 minutes and then drove home when I was the only one who showed.

Im enjoying seeing all the posts about RCQs going straight to top 8 cuz that’s all the people who show up or other standard events not even firing. WOTC truly just doing the “this is fine” meme while tournament play burns to the ground

Was finally able to claim my collector boxes from EOE arena direct. All time took was about 3 weeks, opening 3 tickets (2 of which were ignored) and a couple of emails. Sadly I consider myself lucky it was only that bad

I’m actively hoping spiderman flops hard, not cuz I hate spiderman, but because the way FF shook out it seems to have brought in a ton of shit head scalpers and I’m hoping they all get burned on this set and leave.

Obviously it’s all just speculation right now, but I’d expect the November ban to go after cauldron and possibly profts or floodmaw. Wizards likes to target bans at older cards, plus the non cauldron vivi deck is actually a pretty cool healthy inclusion to a format.

Setting aside whether or not you like spiderman, this set looks really bad. Having a million creatures in the same set all named the same sucks. Having a set that's mechanically isolated from other resent sets sucks. The entire set feels like it was rushed and half assed.

If anyone has dealt with issues claiming arena direct prizes before I'm open to suggestions on what to do. Still have not been able to claim my collector boxes and seems Wizards support is just ignoring any tickets I make for the problem.

The pioneer boros hammertime deck hits on all the levels of decks that have been my favorites in magic. -creature based combo -good toolbox -lots of different lines to take based on the game state -flexible game play that you can line up against whatever deck your opponent is on

I seem to be in that really cool position you hear about online where I have several boxes I can’t claim from arena direct prizes and wizards support is not replying to my ticket for help. These things would be so cool if their shit worked or customer support actually responded with help.

This is basically the exact same format we had at PT Final Fantasy. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Also, for anyone who had hopes of emergency ban action, including the conclusion of the article. This isn't something you say to prepare people for emergency bans.

IMO this card is pretty messed up. with a card like nova hellkite, but likely good enough to just build a pseudo combo deck where you are just warp + hasting guys to get in attacks for 8 or more damage a hit. Not legendary, you can stack multiples in play. Warp riddler into wild ride plays

Finally got an email about my arena direct, and it wasn't to claim my prize. Instead they said my payout account wasn't set up (which I'm pretty sure is wrong cuz I have claimed prizes before) so now I have to launch a customer support ticket. Here's to hoping this actually gets fixed.

Can't wait for the deck win rates and match up break down for Orlando to come out. Based on the results I expect vivi cauldron to be close to 60% win rate in non mirrors and only mono red having a favorable win rate against it (excluding obscure decks with only like 1-2 players on the deck)

WOTC based a lot of their ban philosophy explanation on a mysterious casual player who only shows up to play magic once every few weeks at the LGS and would be very upset to find their deck banned. Now we get to see if they let tournament magic burn to the ground for a theoretical casual player

Just stop making standard a featured format for high level events. Your current design and ban philosophy is going to make standard a miserable place for high level events where everyone will swarm to the obvious best deck. Go back to modern and pioneer for everything.

@mtgarena.com Still haven't gotten an email to claim boxes from the arena direct event that was supposed to go out earlier this week. From others I've checked with they haven't seen anything either. What's going on with this? Why aren't we able to claim our prizes still?

Has anyone gotten a follow up email this week to claim EOE boxes from arena directs? I got an initial email saying there should be a follow up around the 27th where you can claim the boxes, but haven't got anything still. It was crazy to begin with to make people wait 2 weeks to claim prizes.

Made top 4 of store champs tonight with the roots deck I posted earlier in the week before scooping to the homie and heading to work. More importantly I acquired my set of matching stamped slickshots with my LGS store name on it.

Just seeing the weekly challenge results this format looks a million times better than standard. We should all come together and agree to change RCQs to pioneer and just not tell WOTC.

I’m not gonna say I broke the format or found something that’s a for sure good deck against vivi cauldron, but I’ve been cooking up some sweet decks in standard lately. I’ll be doing a dump of lists either tomorrow or Monday for the people looking for some off beat piles for Orlando.

At an LGS I haven’t been to for store champs, trying to collect all the promo slickshots. Looks at random stuff at the counter and noticed they have a sealed betrayers of kamigawa rats nest theme deck. You couldn’t find these anywhere because they had a jitte, which was twice as much as the deck.

After playing both arena direct and arena opens in back to back weeks, I think it's time to restructure how the opens work. Compared to the arena directs, where win or lose I just want to keep playing, the structure and prizing of the opens feels so much worse. My proposed structure below

Here's where I'm at after doing some testing with the mono red dragons deck today. Started with the stock list and gradually made some small changes. Feel pretty good with where it's at for now. Details on changes on thoughts on the deck in thread below.

I've been jamming the mono red dragons deck that has recently popped up in standard, and while the deck is doing pretty well, playing taurean mauler is kinda embarrassing. So I made this boros version as a possible solution.

Good to see WOTC is really locking in this who "play the game, see the same 3 US cities" for all it's events. 😒 You can put events in places other than Vegas/Atlanta/Chicago, I promise it will be ok.

Current standard sucks. More players will choose to either ignore the tier 0 best deck and just play whatever deck they like than are willing to go out the of way to try to beat it, so it's a trap to try to beat it just to lose to a bad deck in the format. Makes no sense to even try anything else.

got another busted pool, but can't decide how to build the deck. Could easily build at least 4 different decks that I would be very happy to have anytime, but very unclear which is the best.

Another one. Mana was super scuffed in a straight up 3 color deck with very little fixing, so played the 18th land to make it a bit easier. clean 7-0, but the mana did cause some issues for sure.

My favorite part of edge of eternities is how the number of common/uncommon cards that matter for constructed formats. Can’t remember the last time I actually would comb through my draft chaff for constructed staples

I have every intention of only draft 5c lander ramp this entire format. 2 color decks are a lie. Aggro isn't real and can't hurt me

If WOTC really wanted more women to play, they would make a set based around serial killer podcasts

This is big game if we get 3 good reasons to play EOE limited for 3 weekends in a row. They should just do this for every format to incentivize people to play like crazy the first 2 weeks of the format to learn it for events that matter
