My camera set up for (hopefully) my final photo shoot of 2025. Today’s last file number; A0659199.3FR. The CFV back records file numbers sequentially. Over the years, it has churned out a staggering amount of data, 16 megapixels at a time on its square CCD sensor.

Darkroom talk tonight got me thinking. I’ve had a couple different ideas for building a home darkroom to have post “retirement.” But now I’m rethinking things. Maybe the way to go is super simple. Wildcat Hill style. Forget all the dedicated stuff. Light bulb, printing frame and a sink.

A complete brain fart of lens design. Sony’s fancy G Master 70-200 has a lens mount alignment marker that is the same color as the lens. Impossible to see in the field. I’ve resorted to a low tech fix. Otherwise, it has proven to be a really nice lens.

editing is selecting images to show from a bigger take of “unedited” images. editing is not post production or manipulation of images. to say this image is unedited isn’t correct. that would imply a random image was selected from a take of photos and we all know that isn’t likely. #mondayrant

Friday evening rambling: photographing with film, professionally and as a leisure activity, is the only economically viable medium any American photographer could possibly consider. We don’t make cameras, we don’t make sensors, we DO make film. Should probably stop rambling.

The new Nikon 35 f1.2… lens bloat is out of control. It’s the photo world equivalent of those lifted Ford F250’s you see at the shopping mall. Go get ‘em boys!

Today’s project. 100mm square filters are way more convenient if you use multiple systems and need a bunch of different sizes. Trouble is, they are getting hard to find and have become very expensive. Made an adapter to let me add 82mm filters to the mix. They slide in and out for quick changes.

Managed to cut up an onion without crying. Feel like I’ve leveled up.

I was back in the darkroom for a few hours this afternoon. Hopefully productive. You never really know until the prints dry.

After making a couple contact sheets this afternoon, decided to make one last print to close out the year. What’s unexpected about this image is the signage on the wall in deep shadow. A small flash on camera lit up the reflective signs making them the brightest thing in the scene. #believeinfilm

Here are the contact sheets from my outing a couple days ago with the Fuji GW690ii and flash. The flash is fairly subtle. In a couple of these, it’s doing exactly as hoped. In others, need way more power than a small on camera flash is likely able to provide. #believeinfilm

Really nice weather for burning through a couple rolls of film. Experimenting with the idea of a slightly different look. Will see how it went soon enough. Camera setup noted in the Alt text.

I get a good chuckle anytime I see someone call their inkjet prints “Giclée fine art prints.”

Ran across these oldies #FromTheArchive this morning. These were taken at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. Made them with a Fuji FinePix S100FS bridge camera. It sports an 11mp SuperCCD sensor. Exciting stuff. These are way more interesting than the photos I took with my Hasselblad.

Any interest in a box kept FT2? I can’t verify the accuracy of the light meter, but it does respond to light. $60 shipped domestically in the US.

I think this will be the final 1926 Kodak catalog post. Also happens to be the last page in the publication. If you were hoping to see a bunch of film, there wasn’t much variety in 1926. Look at the previous post for cut film. Roll films were listed with the cameras. #believeinfilm

These sheet film hangers were given to me 30+ years ago. I have a bunch of them. Never knew their original purpose. The 1926 Kodak catalog answers that. They are fantastic. If you stumble across any, buy them! If you’re lucky, they’re still $.20 Best way to hang sheet film to dry. #believeinfilm

Let’s get into the darkroom section of the 1926 Kodak catalog. Possibly my favorite item in the entire catalog is the Kodak Darkroom Lamp. Imagine using an oil burning lamp as a safe light. I bet it produced a lovely glow! #believeinfilm
