No idea if it's just me, but Internet Archive has been acting really flimsy as of lately. Every now and then I would try to view an item, but what I get is a screen that says "unable to load metadata from item location" and I don't know why that's happening.

Yesterday I spent a bit of time getting my Asteroids clone that used to be Windows exclusive to build and run on Linux. It didn't take very long to do so as it was already abstracted from the OS and hardware using raylib . I just needed to update the build configuration to support Linux builds.

TIL there is such a thing as 'Broken Heart Syndrome' (Takotsubo cardiomyopathy), and I have to credit Doctor Mike for that one.

Well that's just great. Time for a reinstall that I didn't see coming in advance. 🫠

This clearly demonstrates why you should NEVER take anything you see online for granted, as ANY of it can suddenly become lost media in the blink of an eye if you aren't careful.

Can I just go on record by saying how much I dislike the fact that Windows 10's Calculator app will just close on its own after minimizing in certain situations?

Just ran a memory test to make sure my RAM wasn't inexplicably broken. Spoiler alert, it wasn't.

Anyways, regarding the issues I was facing with my computer after powering on, the problem was indeed the CMOS battery. After replacing it with one of the fresh CMOS batteries my dad had on hand, my computer behaved normally ever since.

This, ladies and gentlemen, perfectly demonstrates why you should NEVER EVER do server side product authentication. Doing so pretty much puts the fate of your ownership of a product at the mercy of the manufacturer who could in fact terminate it at any time for any reason they feel like.

Currently conducting an experiment on my PC to try and figure out what's causing this to happen. My current test involves removing the CMOS battery, and without it, this screen now shows up without fail after the power supply is turned off for a certain period of time.

Ah, tech issues, the perfect way to start my day. 🫠
