That's atelier ayesha finished I didn't get a bunch of the character endings as options [and didn't even seem to unlock a bunch of them, as they seemingly require 100 friendship], but eh, some of those feel like ng+/guide-following territory

I imagine there's interesting mechanics to glean from some gacha rpgs, but that'd require playing gacha rpgs

I want to put in a battle grading system a la smash bros melee or the tales of games, but I don't have a current project where that reasonably fits tonewise Maz is too results driven for grade to get in the way and I have no idea how I'd track all the things I'd want to in the default ohr battles

Thinking about the scale of 'do the enemies in this area have a shared theme' again It's honestly weird to think about how a lot of RPGs don't make design choices that lead to them being able to, or wanting to, have areas filled with enemies that all share the same mechanical idea

Atelier ayesha is good, but having the only other one I played be rorona feels like it didn't set me up well That one's incredibly regimented while ayesha feels a lot more like going at your own pace, and I don't have a good feeling for what that pace should be

It's only slightly bracing to think about how I've drawn up two completely different, reasonably-sized, sets of enemy sprites that have no real place to go and that number could probably rise to 3-6 depending on how broad your definitions of 'reasonably-sized' and 'no real place to go' are

I'm trying to think what the 'default' game would be nowadays, in the sense that platformers were the default game of the 90s and fpses were the default in 7th gen Is that even a coherent question at this point, or is the idea of a video game now too fragmented for that sort of monolith to exist

One of the many reasons I need to play more RPGs is to see how strong the delineation between ones where enemy differentiation is strong and ones where it's weak is Like, I don't think there's a sharp line between the two but maybe the gradient is pretty thin

Trying not to go too far to the far side of the 'single-screen rpg contest map'<>'ys ii special map' spectrum, but sometimes you just need to make a map that's particularly sprawling

It's unfortunate that I associate making dioramas with static NPCs for scenes as an amateur/fangame tactic, since the current scene I finished up making has a lot of that energy to it

Terrible video game idea: each time you go to a new segment of the game the currency changes completely, and the shopkeepers are incredulous that the coins/bank proof/cowry shells/etc. you were using before could ever be considered money

If I'm on the topic of rct2, I might have to channel tcgtheory and call atms a design mistake Guests running out of money and leaving is a major limiting factor in rct1, and while having a way around it in 2 is a major QoL thing it also flattens the financial side of things in a really severe way

A lot of the rct2 expansion scenarios seem to forget that 1) decoration is optional 2) you can sell most of the decoration objects for money 3) this also goes for paths Also that flat ground isn't interesting to build on, but to be fair to it base rct2 was also busy falling into that hole
