Does anyone know of any good field work/research grants for postdoc fellows in ecology/conservation/ornithology? I've found the Kessel from AOS and some NatGeo, but most of my list is for grad students (if anyone wants a list for grad student field work grants hmu!)

Officially passed my dissertation defense yesterday! Feeling surreal to have Dr. by my name, my 12 year old self would be kicking and screaming with excitement 🥹

Officially accepted the Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship position in EEB at Michigan State University with @lars-brudvig.bsky.social and @oliviamsmith.bsky.social! I’ll be continuing work on restoration and seed dispersal interactions back at FCAT in the Chocó and I couldn’t be more excited! 🥳

on my morning run these older women were stopped in the middle of the road with a baby snapping turtle moving it with a stick and yelled “what do we do!” So I picked it up and moved it across the road and they were like “oh my god how did you do that!” And I was like… maam it’s the size of a quarter

There’s a reason tanagers are a fan favorite- they’re beautiful! Here are some we’ve banded (under all proper permits!). These cuties play an important functional role of dispersing seeds in degraded & early successional habitats, and could be good species to target in restoration efforts :)
