While I’m going to comment on and discuss our transfer business this summer, ultimately I trust the club to get it right. I may rant and rave and not like the decisions they make. But I also believe come next May I’ll be the one who turns out to be wrong. They’re a smart bunch.

Big clubs have 3 categories of players: 1) Not for sale under any circumstances 2) Not actively “for sale” but could be persuaded 3) Players not really part of the plans, players you want to improve on For us Jesus or Vieira would be 3. Rice and Saka would be 1). Cala is firmly in 2) imo.

I think a corollary to this is realising the way pricing for attackers compares to midfielders or defenders. We spent more on Noni Madueke than we did on Cala. One is elite, world class and walks into our first XI. The other is a very good player, but not elite.

Really don’t get people balking at £100m for Rogers. £100m for Rogers and £80m for Kroupi represents an incredible summer. We spent £250m net last summer. Our revenues are set to increase further. Do not be surprised to see us spend £300m net of sales. So that would still leave room for more.

I’ve seen this reported and tbh I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m curious what the club will do to replace. Do we think Setford is going to become Raya’s long term replacement? If so go for a veteran who can be backup and maybe loan Setford out. If not I think we have to go for a younger keeper.

Nope. Think it’s much more likely that we sign Rogers and Villa use that money to not only pay for Rashford’s fee, but maybe a hefty signing on bonus to persuade him to reduce his wages (to keep their wage structure). He’s the right profile for them (a “win now” signing) and wrong one for us.

Jesus Christ this has popped off. I’m glad it resonated with people. As a non-white person, and I think @clivepafc.bsky.social has talked about this too, the diversity of the fanbase was one of the things that drew me to this club. I saw myself represented in the fans and players.

No shot I just saw a video of a kid in a PSG shirt at the parade and the police pulled him out and made him take it off (and confiscated it).

Just checked on The Bad Place and it’s awful. Arguing over how many people were at the parade. Racist remarks about the people there. And even our own fans slagging fans off for the songs they chose to sing, for flares, for being “tourists”. Arsenal community on BlueSky is miles better.

I keep hearing about how PSG outplayed us. They had 4 shots on target. One of those was the penalty. So only 3 other than that. They had a lot of shots total, but anyone who watched the game will tell you there were a lot of wayward shots from range. 1-1 was about right on balance of play.

Probably wearing this to the parade today. I know I should wear red but this season’s home shirt is my Eze 10 (which I wore when he missed last night) and I don’t want to be sad today. And all my shirts before last season (I didn’t buy the home one last year) don’t fit me any more.

The stick you’ll get from rival fans is nothing more than fear. They expected us to get destroyed by PSG. Instead the only success they had was from the penalty spot. If we can do that, they know it’s only a matter of time before we get the CL over the line like we did the league.

Was really surprised Saliba didn’t take a penalty. He scored in the shootout with Palace. Timber too. Not saying it would have made a difference but in the absence of Saka and Kai (both of whom would’ve taken one) I might’ve gone with players who had taken ones this season.

The fact my TV forced an automatic OS update right this second with no option to cancel or postpone it…perfect.

The nerves have set in. Fuck. If we don’t do this…the ribbing I’m gonna get from my gf’s Spurs supporting dad (who I’m watching it with) is going to be the worst thing ever.

I think the argument for starting Myles becomes stronger if Hincapie is in the side. I also think the argument to start one of Eze or Leo on the left is stronger with him there providing the overlap. And obviously Timber just wasn’t fit enough.

Gotta be Iraola to Liverpool, right? There aren’t many clubs that would be a step up for him and that’s one of the few.

For the record while I think it’s a free hit for us as fans, I’m absolutely ecstatic (and not at all surprised) the manager and players don’t see it that way.

My favourite thing about this piece is a data point. We keep being told we bought the title. Well I already knew our wage bill was 4th highest. Now I know our net spend is only third highest. And that to take a team that finished 8th in his first season to first.

I’ve been thinking about this and as much as I can see the sense in selling Norgaard this summer, hearing that he ended up being a voice of experience in the dressing room completely validates his signing. Sometimes it’s not just what they do on the pitch that matters, but also what do off it.

Meanwhile thanks to @nathanphillips.bsky.social I was able to bring these to my gf’s (Spurs supporting) dad’s BBQ. He has his Spurs apron on (he says he knew I was going to wear my shirt so he had to even it up). Then I brought these babies out. It’s important to stay hydrated in this heat.

You can think we’re boring and that’s your right, but saying “I’m not trying to take anything away from their title win but” before proceeding to criticise the way the title was won is like saying “I’m not racist but…”
