Trying to decide on a movie to watch tonight. I'm leaning heavily in the direction of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's CURE. I've seen several of his movies and enjoyed the all immensely. This is considered to be one of his best but I've yet to watch it. Yeah. I think this is going to be tonight's entertainment.

I took this shot back in March 2024 on a blustery day in Queensferry using an old tripod (since replaced) that couldn’t handle the fierce winds blowing in off the Forth. Love this view. :-)

I bought a record player late October last year with a promise to both myself and my wife that I wouldn’t get carried away. An album a month I said. Here we are 8 months later and I have a collection numbering 50 albums. Loving it but I’m out of control. 😎

#NowPlaying TUNNEL OF LOVE by Bruce Springsteen. Top 5 Springsteen for me. I've even been known to say it's my favourite. I liked it first time I played it back in 1987 and it's only grown in my estimation over the years. A masterpiece. The quieter songs are the ones I find interesting these days.

My wife and I watched the C4 drama TIP TOE over three nights last week. We could have watched it over two nights but after episode 4 I had to take a break. The intensity of the build up to the inevitable conclusion was excrutiating. One of the most powerful pieces of TV I've seen in a long time.

Arria is a 10m stainless‑steel sculpture by Andy Scott overlooking the M80 at Cumbernauld. It depicts a female figure with sweeping, ribbon‑like arms symbolising the River Carron and the town’s landscape. Installed in 2010, it’s is a striking gateway landmark, especially when illuminated at night.

#BestMusic 2024. LIVES OUTGROWN by Beth Gibbons. I'm a big fan of all three Portishead albums and of Beth's 2002 album with Rustin Man and various other collaborations over the years. I didn't think anything could even match her previous work.

#BestMusic 2024 - ROMANCE by Fontaines D.C. Seeing this band live on Wednesday and I fully expect to be entertained to within an inch of my life. If I were ranking my favourite albums of 2024 this would definitely be in my top 5.

Taken in Anstruther this year during an early August morning spent exploring with my camera. I initially presented this in a 3:2 aspect ratio which was how it was shot. That resulted in the boat being slap bag in the centre of the composition.

#BestMusic 2024 - SONGS OF A LOST WORLD by The Cure. Just beautiful. This album is probably top 5 in terms of this bands discography. The last album of theirs that 100% clicked with me was WISH back in 1992.

#NowPlaying LAST OF THE COUNTRY GENTLEMEN by Josh T. Pearson. Still outstanding. I remember persuading my wife to join me at a live show by this man. Near the end of the show I look to my left and there's tears pouring down her cheeks. Then I realised I was crying too. Incredible artist. #music

#NowPlaying HOW TO RE-ASSEMBLE THE ATOMIC BOMB by U2. Specifically the shadow album which contains various outtakes. As a U2 fan who hasn't enjoyed a U2 album is a long time this is fucking great. A reminder of how good this band can be. Why these songs have been on the shelf I have no idea. #music

The Finnieston Crane beside the River Clyde, Glasgow. I love this remnant of Glasgow's engineering past. There are plans to open a visitor's centre and restaurant at the base of the crane celebrating the city's engineering history. Kind of hoping that they will also light up the crane at night.

#NowPlaying A BRIGHTER BEAT by Malcolm Middleton. I was already a fan of Arab Strap. When they split up I wasn't sure what to expect. But both Aidan Moffatt and Malcolm Middleton delivered some great albums full of amazing song writing and stunning tunes after the temporary demise of Arab Strap.

Have been thoroughly enjoying the Eddie Redmayne starring TV adaptation of DAY OF THE JACKAL. It's been many years since I saw the original 1973 adaptation of Fredrick Forsyth's novel but I expect this new version isn't so much an adaptation as it is "inspired by".
