last thing we've been working to get on the texas mdcp program after two years of being on a waitlist. the mdcp provides access to services for disabled kids. we got turned down this week because my son's needs are classified as "personal care" vs "medically dependent"

last thing there needs to be a deep dive into the role parents play in defining disability for their kids we overstep and spend too much time listening to doctors and therapists and not enough listening to actually disabled people

this is a good article. we're moving beyond "what do folks need" (a flawed question already!) to defining an entire population based on "what we're willing to do for them" but tbh it's also codifying how some states (ahem texas) kind of already operate
