Hurricane Melissa is rapidly re-strengthening tonight - #Melissa is back over open waters on an approach to eastern Cuba and has regained Category 4 strength as of the 11pm (Tuesday) advisory. The storm has a brief window to continue to strengthen before making landfall in Cuba. #HurricaneMelissa

JUST IN- SEVERE WEATHER RISK UPGRADED- Much of central and southern Ohio has been upgraded to a Level 2 (out of 5) risk for severe storms this afternoon into early evening. The main threat from storms will be from strong, potentially damaging wind gusts with the strongest storms. #ohwx #ohio

DROUGHT CONDITIONS SIGNIFICANTLY WORSEN OVER THE LAST WEEK- Most of Ohio is now under MODERATE DROUGHT conditions, up from 48% last week. About 16% of the state is now considered to be in SEVERE DROUGHT conditions compared to 2% last week. #OHwx #OhioDrought #Ohio

Most of Ohio has not had a drop of rain in two weeks. The next two weeks is looking promising for some needed rain. However, it would take several soakings to get us back to even being close to normal amounts of precip. It is unlikely our drought would be wiped away anytime soon. #OHwx #OHDrought

OHIO'S 28th TORNADO OF THE YEAR CONFIRMED- The NWS confirmed that an EF1 TORNADO touched down near New London - in Huron County - early Wednesday AM. Some damage was done to a local cemetery along with several uprooted trees along the path One large tree landed on a home, damaging the roof. #OHwx

OHIO's 27th TORNADO OF THE YEAR CONFIRMED- Last night, a weak EF0 TORNADO touched down near Middlefield, Ohio in Geauga Co Tues night at around 8:45p.The tornado caused some damage to several buildings. Roofing material was thrown several hundred feet. 3 livestock were also injured.

The annual Perseid Meteor Shower will peak overnight tonight. While the waning moon could drown out some of the dimmer meteors, there hopefully will be some brighter ones shining through! The best time for viewing is after 11pm, looking northeast away from city lights. Happy meteor hunting!

JUST IN: NWS CONFIRMS OHIO’s 25th TORNADO OF THE YEAR- An EF0 tornado was confirmed in Shelby County, OH from storms that occurred the evening of July 19th, 2025, based on video and drone footage evidence. Damage to crops and minor tree damage were observed northeast of Anna, OH. #ohwx

OHIO TORNADO COUNT JUMPS AFTER WEEKEND STORMS- The NWS confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Clark County on Saturday evening. This brings the 2025 count in OH up to 24. The average annual number is around 21. Still, this is a far fewer number than we had by this time last year. #ohwx

TORNADO CONFIRMED FROM MONDAY in northeast Ohio- This EF0 tornado moved from Chatham to Lafayette Townships in Medina County between 3:57pm to 3:59pm. The winds were estimated to have reached just over 80mph.This makes for the states 22nd one of the year. We typically average 21 annually. #ohwx

SEVERE T-STORM WATCH ISSUED UNTIL 10PM FOR WESTERN & CENTRAL OHIO- A line of strong to severe storms will be moving out of Indiana and into western Ohio by late this evening. Storms will be capable of producing damaging wind. However, some hail and even a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out. #OHWX

STRONG/SEVERE STORMS STILL EXPECTED to move into Ohio after 5pm - While there are some scattered storms already in parts of Ohio, the main line of more intense storms is expected to push into western Ohio between 5 and 7pm. The GOES satellite imagery a bit before sunset tonight picked up on a LOT of wildfire smoke moving into the northern US out of Canada. This smoke will be in our region this weekend, so you may notice a milky-colored or hazy sky at times. It is also possible you may at times smell smoke. #ohwx

A "Pilot's Glory" is an optical phenomenon where a halo appears to encircle a plane's shadow against clouds, caused by the backscattering of sunlight by tiny water droplets in the atmosphere. In this video the tip of Terminal Tower in Cleveland created a similar phenomenon onto the fog below! #OHwx

INCOMING FOG- With all the rain and light winds, areas of fog have begun to for across parts of central Ohio. Visibility may drop below 1 mile at times overnight at times through early Monday morning. #OHWX

Did you know that 2025 has experienced more tornadoes through the first 1/3rd of the year than normal? From Jan. 1 through April 30, 2025, SPC has received 689 tornado reports. There have been 15 confirmed tornadoes in Ohio, which is actually down significantly from this time last year in the state.

HEADS UP- A SEVERE T-STORM WATCH WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED SOON FOR THE HIGHLIGHTED AREA- Storms are expected to have an increased risk for scattered damaging winds and isolated, marginally severe hail. A WATCH will likely be needed, centered over much of central & eastern Ohio. #OHwx

SEVERE THREAT RETURNS ON THURSDAY- The main threat from these storms will be from damaging wind gusts as well as some hail. The tornado threat looks low, but a brief spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out. Here is the approx arrival time window for the strongest storms. #ohwx

SEVERE T-STORM WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF OHIO until 7:00pm - A cluster of severe storms with a history of damaging wind gusts was moving toward/into western Ohio. These storms will continue to spread eastward into the watch area over the next few hours. #ohio #ohwx

Ohio's 2025 TORNADO COUNT TICKED UP to 15- NWS confirmed another tornado touched down during the night of April 2nd-3rd just NE of Cedar Grove, IN & stayed on the ground for approx 11 mins, tracking nearly 11 mi. The tornado lifted near Millville, OH - in Butler Co. Tornado was rated an EF0. #ohwx

A little rumbling occurred early this morning near Cambridge, OH thanks to a 3.1 magnitude #earthquake. The quake occurred at about 4:12am Tuesday and was centered in Noble County near Pleasant City. The quake, which was minor, was felt in neighboring Guernsey and Muskingum Counties. #OHwx #Ohio

OHIO'S 14th TORNADO OF THE YEAR CONFIRMED- The NWS, which continues to go through storm damage data from storms earlier in April, have now confirmed that WEAK TORNADO touched down in northern Warren Co which then moved into southern Montgomery Co during the early AM hours of Thurs, April 3rd. #OHwx

An early HEADS UP on MONDAY- Temperatures will jump early next week right ahead of an approaching cold front. The warmth clashing with the cold front could increase the threat for strong to severe storms by Monday afternoon. Something to keep an eye on over the weekend! #ohwx
