So I released my tune "På kollsvart vei" ("On a pitch black road" in Norwegian), in 2018. I drew the cover illustration during meetings at work. And took pictures of the process. I planned on making a video, but that never reached the top of my todo-list, so I'll try sharing them here. 1/..

I've been to countless music stores, trying various tambourines, in my attempt to find "the one". Turns out I just had to use three at the same time 🤷 Follow for more tambourine shenanigans. Or not... 1/2

A few years ago I did a regular live stream every Sunday night. It was called Søndag kveld med Trygve. On the live stream I talked about life and music and stuff, and played guitar. Mostly impro. This video is from a dice controlled impro. 1/2

This is my first guitar, and the only guitar I've ever sold (Yeah, I know I might have hoarding tendencies) It wasn't very good, but it would have been cool to have it hanging on my wall.

I just realized it's Bandcamp Friday, and I haven't shared my link yet. Hope this oversight doesn't cause me to lose my independent artist certification! Anyway, if you're curious about Cabin Cruiser Rock, just head on over to

I started writing songs in my teens, and my lyrics were in English. You're probably thinking: "That don't impress me much". And you'd be right. The lyrics weren't great. But that's not the point. My mother tongue is Norwegian So why did I write in English? And why did I switch to Norwegian? 🧵

Somebody hates your favorite artist. I mean, they despise them. And they're not shy about it. Think of a piece by your favorite artist. Or one of your most beloved artists, if you don't play favorites. The one that really tugs on your heartstrings. Somebody hates it. 1/3

I grew as a musician without really noticing Story time! In my teens I played guitar with a church choir. At one point a few choirs from nearby towns collaborated and went on tour. 1/6

I started playing guitar when I was 13. It was the eighties. It was Kiss, Iron Maiden, Dio, Bon Jovi and Gary Moore. Lead guitar was distorted. That was just the way of the world. One summer I visited my uncle. And my world shifted 1/

Without voice notes, I would really struggle as a songwriter. I forget stuff. All the time. And I know it's gonna happen. To remember appointments, I add a calendar item. To remember a task, I set an alarm. To remember my song ideas I record voice notes. Here's what I've learned...

My moms guitar advice I had just started playing guitar and had been practicing a simple guitar boogie in E. When my parents got home I eagerly showed them what I'd learned. I played the piece with the index finger on my fretting hand, moving the entire hand when I needed to switch fret. 1/2

Creativity is the thread that binds me together. I make music, I draw, I built my own guitar (took 20 years, though), I built a tube amp, I decorated my studio and I create software at my day job. Creating does something to me that I need. 1/3

Your song can be true even if it's not factually correct. What the lead singer of Kiss taught me about songwriting. In 2006 Paul Stanley released a solo album called "Live to Win". As part of the release Paul recorded some audio clips where he talked about each song. 1/4

My current music marketing strategy summer up in three words: * Kindness * Support * Helpfulness A little disclaimer before reading on: My earlier attempts at music marketing haven't been very successful. I kinda suck at music marketing. Still here? Great! 🧵

Do you make music? One of the most important things you can do is to allow yourself to enjoy making music without regard for other people's opinions about how it should be done. Whatever level you're at, if it gives you joy then keep it up. No matter what you do, someone will.. 🧵

In an interview, Rick Rubin (the producer behind a lot of hits) said that one of the keys to his success was his taste. He likes the same stuff that most people do. I don't, so I have adjusted my expectation of success accordingly.

I've been tracking background vocals this weekend, and it dawned on me that I've been recording the manifestation of a common mixing advice. While learning mixing, there's one phrase I've encountered numerous times: "It doesn't matter how it sounds in solo" - every mix tutorial ever* 🧵

In elementary school we were tasked with drawing what we wanted to be. I drew a line dividing e the sheet of paper into two equal parts, and got to work. I envisioned two alternatives for my future: Cowboy or Rock star. I was quite inspired by Lucky Luke and Kiss. 🧵

Ever since I released my first album in 2016, I've struggled with what genre is it's. I think that maybe I've cracked it! Let's have a bit of background first. When I started out I was really inspired by Richie Kotzen's Soul Rock. But that description just didn't seem to catch on. 🧵

In 2000 I took a masters degree in abstract algebra, and quite a lot of music theory is sort of basic mathematics. I do enjoy nerding out with a video about music theory once in a while, but some of the stuff they're taking about gets little use in my songwriting and playing. Like discussing ...🧵

Yeah, and also try to avoid using should - about yourself and anyone else. A friend made me aware of how much judgement statements including the word 'should' contains. I try to incorporate that in conversations with myself and others. What I do is, whenever I'm about to make a should-statement🧵

This one was inspired by the view out my office window back in 2015. Like a lot of my drawings it's mostly made during meetings at work, so that kinda makes sense. Now I mostly work from home, so I can mute and play guitar during meetings, so drawing has kinda taken a backseat.
