Enjoying Paul John Nirvana with my lunch. Seems rude not to since this is a Paul John resort 😂. It goes well with coconut based curries. The Bold isn’t my favourite but Brilliance and Nirvana are OK. #whisky

Good old Black Label tonight. This is such a solid option on a night out, simple but tasty. #whisky

They found me a Talisker 10. Moving on to Laphroaig now and that will be the end of my evening. Considering I’m on Havelock Island in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands I’m impressed by this list! #whisky

On to Cragganmore now. When I get home I’m doing a Cragganmore flight, it’s such a nice whisky. #whisky

Lagavulin 16 is the perfect accompaniment for posh Indian food. Actually it’s pretty much perfect for anything 🤣.

You have to wonder what is left of the spirit character after 4x distillation and being casked at 85%. I'm interested to try it, less so to buy it. #whisky

Emirates pours are fair. Ended up with King Alexander III and Signet. No Glencairn sadly but you do pour your own.

Just had a funny experience. A guy joined a group I'm in & he lives 20 minutes from me. He proudly posted a decent collection & I invited him to meet up for a few drams. He wanted to see what I had before agreeing! That's a 1st! Needless to say I declined 🤣🤣🤣

Realised last night while chatting that I have a few bottles in the queue! My first impression of this Glasgow is lots of bourbon cask notes. @whiskytip.bsky.social & I popped the Springbank late at night so this is my chance to try it again on a fresher palate. I’ll report back later! #whisky

Dram 5: charred lemons, limes, Refresher sweets, liquorice, green apple, slightly salty. I want this one very badly. 5 from me. #BlindDrams

Dram 4: oak, brine, nail polish, sweet & sour, citric, more smoke on the nose than the palate Score: 3 #BlindDrams

Dram 3: plums, cherries, flat coke, dark chocolate. Nice pepper and cinnamon finish Score 4 #BlindDrams

Dram 2: deep smoke, fresh mint, fruity. On the palate it’s thin, lower ABV. I’m going to say Ardbeg because someone has to be wrong and it might as well be me. Score 2 #BlindDrams

Dram 1: Meaty, briny, smoked cheese, lemons. Not iodine or vegetal. No sherry, and not spicy so probably ex-bourbon. 3 from me #BlindDrams

A teaspooned Kininvie to start - fragrant pears and honeydew melons, quite floral. Following that with Bruichladdich Re/Define Thirty. Lots of Tarte Tatin sprinkled with icing sugar and a side order of vanilla bean custard. Happy Monday! What’s in your glass today? #whisky

Taking this around to the neighbour's for fireworks and bonfire. I think it's a suitable bonfire whisky, all that sherry and smoke, although I suspect it will only be me drinking it. I have another at the ready in case we get through it. #whisky

HP flight night. had to use stronger versions of the 18 and 21 because this 16 weighs in at 48%! Neck pour but so far I like it. Compared to the 18 not as much sherry influence and a lot more citrus, less toffee, more golden syrup. #whisky

International day. Again 🤣. Glenkinchie - creme brulee with wildflowers, then my favourite rye, sweet, herbal, spicy and balanced. Macaloney's is vegetal, ashy peat, green apples, fragrant pears, black tea, Grand Marnier and BBQ sauce. You either love it (I do) or hate it. #whisky #rye #Canadian

This arrived just in time for bonfire night!

I rarely drink Japanese. The Yamazaki 18 is pleasant but not particularly memorable. The Akkeshi is very nice indeed. Their aim was to recreate Lagavulin with local barley, peat and oak. Iodine, tar, molasses, brine, lemons, limes - simply superb. #whisky #Japanese

Redbreast 15 Cask Strength is delicious apples but very sweet! I needed some peat and these two are superb. Connemara is sweet, clean, ashy smoke whereas the Ledaig is a dirty coal smoked fruit salad. Sounds terrible but tastes incredible. #whisky #whiskey

Sunday Drams. Honey citrus then fruity floral then waxy mince pies then shortbread to finish 🤣 #whisky #whiskey

Strictly whisky time. My only Loch Lomond, I'm feeling inadequate after seeing that collection yesterday 🤣 The Del Bac is excellent, very gentle, sweet smoke. Almost rubbery. #whisky

On a fresh palate all I get is boiled sweets with no spice to cut through it. Not really getting the rum & raisin ice cream. Peach and lemon I can see, but candied lemon not citric. It's a very pleasant dram but I wouldn't get another. I prefer the Huntress ones. #whisky

Tonight I want to try the Heart Cut Nc’Nean on a fresh palate, but what to have afterwards…

Doing some blending with the Thompson Bros 33yo North British and some Convalmore 24. Some people's nightmare but it works well I think! Happy Halloween! #whisky

Thanks @whiskytip.bsky.social for this Blair Athol. It is sherried and has digestives, coffee, chocolate orange fudge, stone fruit and a beautifully balanced haribo sours finish. Great dram, glad I waited! The RMW is minty fresh peach cobbler with a burst of pepper. #whisky

Finnish and Scottish rye, very different profile to any north American ryes I’ve had. The Kyro is a bit dusty, sweet and fruity. The rye notes are there but don’t dominate. The Bruichladdich is soft and sweet like a single malt that’s had a crazy finish. Very enjoyable and very interesting. #rye

All Canadian today. This Alberta CS is such a great rye, and amazing value. Chocolate coated Turkish delight with a spicy finish. The Lot40 CS is more fruity and less rye like. It's delicious but the previous batch was just so good that its made it hard for this one! #rye

A little something for the weekend.

It’s been a while since I had the Gigglepig. I prefer the Elijah Craig, it has a cleaner profile although the WP has nice spiced dark chocolate on the finish. #rye

Just received this, it was highly recommended otherwise I would have laughed and run away. £67 after shipping for 500ml of 4yo is insanity, it will have to be unbelievably good to be worth it. I'll pop it this weekend and see. #whisky
