2 beauties tonight! Dailuaine 12 - honey, raisin, orange zest & walnut. Palate is caramel, dark chocolate, herbal, candied fruit, nuts. Finish adds sherry. Pulteney 17 is seaspray, honey, vanilla & nutmeg then pepper & ginger joining it on the palate & finish. #whisky

Dram 5: Nose is quite closed but sweet and slightly funky cheese. Fizzy sweets, sherbert sweets. Palate has dark fruit jam and citrus with a peppery, slightly astringent finish. #BlindDrams

Dram 4: Lots of port notes, dark fruit, blackberry jam, quite tannic, sweet and a lovely pepper kick. #BlindDrams

Dram 3: Funky, rubbery, dark fruit compote. Soft funky fizzy orange on the palate. Ginger and white pepper with honey on white toast on the finish. #BlindDrams

Tropical fruit Balmenach 26, a Xmas present from my son. Arran is lemon sherbet, candied peel and sultanas. I found Macaloneys in Canada a couple of years ago, this one uses the same peat as Westland. Ashy smoke, charred peach & runny honey, wonderful! #whiskey #macaloneys #Arran #Balmenach

Japanese night. This Yamazaki 18 is like a young Linkwood, not impressive. I picked up these Akkeshis in Kyoto, I hadn't seen them before. They are stunning, maritime, sweet peat, pears poached in syrup. The distillery tries to source everything locally too! #whisky #Japanese #Akkeshi #Yamazaki

GTS is molasses, burnt caramel, cherry, toasted pecans, coffee & dark chocolate. The Speyburn is honeycomb, apples, vanilla, pear drops & lemon zest. The Longrow is briny, maritime, smoky peat, old leather armchairs in a cigar lounge, some dried fruit. Its the end of the Lagavulin! #bourbon #whisky

A Spring-a-thon tonight. After the 10yo cask comparison I did last week these are positively geriatric! Almost stately in their gentle delivery, lovely effervescent orange and oily garage vibes. #whisky #Springbank

The 10 is the reference here. The Cask Strength dials up the peat, thicker smoke but still sweet vanilla, dark chocolate, citrus and menthol. Renaissance sits in the middle of these in intensity but way above in complexity and refinement. All of that + dark fruit that hangs on in the finish. #Whisky

I realised halfway through this flight that I hadn’t taken a picture so I had to pour some more of a couple of them 🤣. There were meant to be 4 but I couldn’t make my mind up. I absolutely love Lagavulin so it’s not a hardship! #whisky

Monday night flight! The 1988 P&U is rich and coastal with dried fruit & a long peppery finish, the 35 LE softer, beeswax, smoke & dark chocolate. The 30 is elegant & refined smoke, honeyed oak. The 12 is bright & fruity. This is what a Monday evening should look like 😂 How's your Monday? #whisky

The WT is typical caramel, oak, vanilla, orange peel & baking spices. I prefer the chill filtered version, it's smoother! The Benromach is orchard fruit, vanilla, spicy oak. Absolutely delicious! 1/2 #whisky #bourbon

Pete's peat parade tonight. Ardbeg 25 is lemon polished oak & sea-spray smoke. Traigh Bhan 19 is peppery, citrusy peat. Uigeadail is sherry & bonfire. BizarreBQ is smoky-sweet BBQ. The 25 is sublime, the BizarreBQ the perfect BBQ whisky. #whisky

Its Friday so I'm allowing myself 2nds. For me these are some of Ardbeg's greatest hits. Their whisky can be sublime but the pricing can challenge my commitment! My son recommended the WE 22yo and whoever picked that cask deserves a raise! Renaissance is the original 10CS. #whisky

Preparing for the new addition. For me Dark Cove is still the standout here, I don't think anything else the distillery has released has been quite as good. But I shall try a few more on my way to the new 10CS. Anyone else have a particular favourite? #whisky

I decided to tour the sherry casks in Billy Walker's dunnage. A really good way to learn the differences the various sherry casks make. Also just a really nice evening drinking delicious whisky 🤣 #whisky

Sunday brings a variety pack. First waxy fruit in an old leather wingback, then brutally spicy rye, cherry & sugar free caramel sauce. The Springbank is creamy, funky & more lemon than the usual orange. Finishing off with briny, earthy, smoky goodness! What a great evening! #whisky #rye

I chose this bourbon from a group of 3 at the distillery mainly for the chocolate cherries. The Bruichladdich is bourbon cask and as good as you would expect. Then fruity, nutty, smoky Tomatin. I wish their core bottles were as good as this, it’s an absolute gem! #bourbon #whisky
