At 11. NPT Review Conference: LI reaffirmed the NPT as the cornerstone of non proliferation, warned of rising nuclear risks and stalled disarmament efforts, denounced DPRK’s ongoing nuclear buildup, condemned Russia’s nuclear threats and rejected Iran’s illegal nuclear ambitions.

This week LI, with the core group, convened informal consultations on our "27.3" draft resolution. The draft seeks to apply the part of the Charter stating that a "party to a dispute" shall not vote on certain Security Council resolutions. Minister Schädler chaired the Ministerial Round Table on the priority theme of #CSW70 this morning. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the critical importance of the rule of law as well as the promotion of gender parity within the judiciary to make justice more accessible for women and girls.

Minister Schädler thanked #CSW70 Chair, Amb. Maritza Chan Valverde, for her outstanding leadership in the successful adoption of the Agreed Conclusions – Costa Rica, together with LI and Rwanda, have once again proven that small states can make im-portant contributions to successful multilateralism.

Liechtenstein is proud to be among the first Member States to have paid its full contribution to the UN’s regular budget for 2026 on time and in full. As of 22 January 2026, 24 Member States have paid their regular budget assessments in full.

We hope all Member States will pay by the end of the month, in accordance with our obligations under the UN Charter. Timely and predictable financing is essential for the UN to effectively deliver on peace & security, sustainable development, and human rights.

LI is appalled by the destruction of a UN compound held by UNRWA in East Jerusalem, which is a violation of the UN Convention on Privileges and Immunities. LI urges respect for international law.
