Minister Schädler chaired the Ministerial Round Table on the priority theme of #CSW70 this morning. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the critical importance of the rule of law as well as the promotion of gender parity within the judiciary to make justice more accessible for women and girls.

Minister Schädler thanked #CSW70 Chair, Amb. Maritza Chan Valverde, for her outstanding leadership in the successful adoption of the Agreed Conclusions – Costa Rica, together with LI and Rwanda, have once again proven that small states can make im-portant contributions to successful multilateralism.

LI warmly welcomes the adoption of the CSW70 Agreed Conclusion after a transparent & inclusive negotiation process LI proudly co-led with Rwanda – and thanks all delegations who have come together to express their support for a strong outcome on strengthening women’s and girls’ access to justice.

Liechtenstein is proud to be among the first Member States to have paid its full contribution to the UN’s regular budget for 2026 on time and in full. As of 22 January 2026, 24 Member States have paid their regular budget assessments in full.

We hope all Member States will pay by the end of the month, in accordance with our obligations under the UN Charter. Timely and predictable financing is essential for the UN to effectively deliver on peace & security, sustainable development, and human rights.

LI is appalled by the destruction of a UN compound held by UNRWA in East Jerusalem, which is a violation of the UN Convention on Privileges and Immunities. LI urges respect for international law.

At IAHWG informal on draft resolution for Mandate Implementation Review, LI expressed its support: • the draft can generate fundamental change for our work and generate positive momentum for the #UN80 process • the process should be Member State-driven and transparent, with a strong role for the SG

LI has again contributed to the Special Purpose Trust Fund for UN Development System repositioning according to the scale of assessment. This reflects our strong support for the UN RC system and efforts to enhance its efficiency & our conviction that it should be funded through the regular budget.

At the GA, LI reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking. Central to its effort is the FAST initiative, which in partnership with the private sector and UNDP, harnesses the financial sector’s power to disrupt illicit flows linked to trafficking. LI invites actors to join the initiative

LI on behalf of 57 States on the Use of the Veto: • The #VetoInitiative has ensured that vetoes are no longer the end of the conversation. • The GA can take action when the Security Council is blocked. • We must also fully implement the Charter provision that a 'party to a dispute' shall not vote.

At debate on SC reform, LI: - Encourages States to continue to put forward models to bring us towards consensus - Reminds States of commitments made in the Pact of the Future, including to limit scope and use of the veto - Urges the SC and GA to work together to more effectively fulfill the Charter.

Today, 59 States, including LI, expressed their support for the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the ICC. We stand firmly with the Court against sanctions of ICC officials, staff and those cooperating with it and reaffirm our shared commitment to fight impunity.

Hurricane Melissa has devastated the Caribbean. In response, LI contributes CHF 100,000 to @wfp.org to support emergency aid for 1.1M people in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Republic. LI stands in full solidarity with those affected!
