You know, the more I look at Katt's redesign in Star Fox '26, the more I get vibes of CatBat from Crash Team Rumble. It's probably the eyes and the more desaturated colors.

You know, the whole realistic "this will be Mario in 2014" ahh art direction and more realistically proportioned character designs reminds me of one commonly overlooked aspect of the Star Fox series. The games, for the most part, had a focus on being major visual showcases for what the tech can do.

Getting the Nintendo DS look down is gonna be very hard to do right. And I'm not talking about rendering 2 separate and spaced out game screens at their native resolutions because literally any programmer can do that. I'm talking about the ultra specific low poly look that has yet to be replicated.

I have to say, massive respect to the people who have to pose and animate many Mario characters in their default looks without any sort of squash & stretch because, man, it is very hard to do so a lot of dynamic actions with them without some sort of noticeable clipping issues. They're re-releasing the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong on NSO, despite that game getting a remake 2 years ago? That's actually kind of surprising. No complaining though as it means that you can play both versions of the game, which is great for MvDK fans who want to play either on modern platforms.

I wonder when Ratchet and Clank Ranger Rumble will drop a popular region beta of sorts. Because I know that the game will likely get a full release in the following year or 2, the game's out in very selective countries and that Golden Bolt video I saw increased my already fairly high interest in it.

Low-end asset grabbing is something that's gonna take the first 2-3... maybe even 4 years of my game design journey. Low-end assets specifically because it would be nice to not only know how to learn how to get down certain aesthetics but also make learning game optimization much less of a hassle.

The worst part of not yet playing Sonic Heroes is the chance that I might hate it when I eventually do play it for... a few reasons related to gameplay and polish.

There is something funny about scrolling through the Nintendo store's hardware section, going through the Switch 2, it's controllers & accessories, the amiibo, the NSO controllers & accessories & all of a sudden, there're just turtle beach & airlite fit headsets. It's just... idk how to explain it.
