Mull - a Scottish adventure for @oriolebirding.bsky.social 28th June - 5th July 2025 blueeyedbirding.blogspot.com/2025/07/mull... A mixed bag of weather but some top notch wildlife and landscape encounters. A whole trip in one blog post... How do I chose just one Eagle picture though?

Out West on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social tour down on the south coast and the lure of Odonata at Silverlake rewarded us with Scarlet & Red Veined Darters & Lesser Emperor and several other new species taking us to 23 species in 3 days!

We left the New Forest on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social & headed north to Bentley Woods & Martin Down. It was very hot but full of insect life & the Butterfly list took a big boost along with some quality day flying moths, bees & excellent flora. Both Red-eyed Damsels were seen too at Eyeworth

A grand 1st proper day in the New Forest for @oriolebirding.bsky.social with 13 species of Odonata & a few other inverts as well as Goshawk, Redstart, calling Crossbills, Sundews and many Spotted Flycatchers.

But before the Bird Fair I am in the New Forest for @oriolebirding.bsky.social & we snuck in a cheeky hour after the crew arrived today seeing Silver Studded Blues, Graylings, Tiger Beetles & a Slow Worm. The forest is incredibly dry but we shall see what the good weather brings us!

I shall be at the @globalbirdfair.bsky.social this coming weekend and will be helping out on the @bwntours.bsky.social stand in Kingfisher Marquee (stall 10) as well as paying a visit to the @oriolebirding.bsky.social stand in Nightingale Marquee (stall 18). The weather on Mull on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social trip has been appalling 2day but we still saw Otters and some wet shoreline birds! The water coming off the hills was astonishing. Waterfalls everywhere

What a contrast! 13 species of rain today on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social tour of Mull. It was a very much a 'watching from the van' sort of day but we still saw two Golden Eagles, three Otters, Northern Marsh Orchids, Hen Harrier and added four new birds and some wiggly bits of coast to the list

Another sunny day on Mull for @oriolebirding.bsky.social with Short-eared Owls, Golden Eagles, some great inverts, astonishing White-tailed Eagles and dinner interrupting Common Dolphins. Magic and quite tricky to chose a single shot today so something a little different with some landscape!

A day spent largely off Mull on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social tour. It was glorious and the auks fest on Lunga, ice-cream on Ioana & grandeur of the basalt columns of Staffa made for a grand day out.
