If you had told me that there would be two (small) quakes in Cascade County within 60 hours, I might not have believed you. But here we are:

This weekend's cross-country skiing took us up Camas Road for the views of snowy Mt Brown (L) and Mt Edwards (R). The clouds broke over our head to bathe us and the scenery with sunlight. Glacier National Park

Nature put on a show with last night's alpenglow. Wish I'd been on the shore of Lake McDonald to experience it in person. Instead, we just soaked up the lesser colors from nearby. Photo from Glacier NP webcam last night.

I read about 90 books this year, fewer than last year but lots of thick ones. I worked in a lot of Africa and France books and did the Taylor Swift reading challenge (a bingo square playing off themes from her music). These were my favorites:

On this 18° December day, Giant Springs State Park was steaming in the rare sunshine. I watched a duck slide down the cascades into the Missouri River. Lots of Canada geese flying above us. This makes 12/12 months in 2025 visiting this treasured spot in

In tribute to our waning larch season in western Montana, this pic shows how their needles turn gold in fall which almost makes them look lit from within. The needles will all drop in the next several weeks, leaving them looking like skeletons until spring.

If you are able, please consider donating. It's hard enough being a teenager, but I can't imagine what it's like when you don't have access to your very basic needs.
