🛖 Last week, @YGCUganda met the Batwa in Kisoro. They welcomed us with joy but shared deep pain 💔 Climate change is disrupting their lives ; unpredictable weather & poor harvests, worsened by limited support to adapt. They call for recognition & inclusion in climate policy.

When the matter came up for a defense hearing on January 19, the activists were NOT brought to court, leading to a new adjournment to February 12, further dragging the process while the #StopEACOP activists remain in pre-trial detention.

Environmental defenders opposing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) in Uganda are being arrested, denied bail and kept on remand for months. Their “crime”? Peacefully protesting against environmental destruction. #StopEACOP @YGCUganda

Reported news indicate the President @KagutaMuseveni has cancelled all titles in #Kitubulu Central Forest Reserve and denied approving a mini city there. Grateful to Entebbe local leaders, the community and partners for defending the forest and its benefits.

Last year, #COP29 focused on scaling up climate finance and accelerating real climate action. Yet false solutions like carbon markets & carbon capture continue to delay progress. COP30 must reject these distractions and commit to genuine measures that cut emissions and build resilient communities.
