As I watch the guys pave the streets of Franklin and First from my job and my front yard and while I walk around my neighborhood, I'm reminded that my grandfathers and their fathers all worked on the roads. My grandpa met my grandma while working on one. It's their story.

Ah yes, the fifth of July, also known as Can Reclamation Day for those who celebrate. My brother and I used to comb the neighborhoods with garbage bags, and then Mom would drive us across the river to Iowa for the $.05 per can, and we'd spend the money on candy and cheap fireworks. Memories.
