Tonight’s gig, 45 years ago: 11 March 1980. Back up Infirmary Road once again, to the Blitz Club, located in the George IV pub near Kelvin Flats Tonight it’s I’m So Hollow, active between ‘78-‘81 and one of the very best bands in Sheffield around that time

RIP Brian James. Lucky to have seen him play in The Damned three times (all in 1977). That first single (of which he wrote the A side) is in my top 10 all time 7” records

Tonight’s gig, 50 years ago (21 February 1975) - Ash Ra Tempel playing their UK debut in Guildford sandwiched between a uni/local rock band (Moonmouse) & French prog (Ange). Spoke with Ange after the gig and got stickers! Sadly no memories of Ash Ra Tempel 🙁

Mini-gig at @beartreerecords.bsky.social this evening - #RichardDawson doing an in-store set to promote his new album “End of the middle” ... finishing off with “The Ghost of a Tree”. Marvellous stuff!

Tonight’s gig, 45 years ago at Blitz Club in the George IV pub, Sheffield (opposite Kelvin Flats) to see The Negatives. They’d released their debut single the month before and it made Single of the Week in NME in March 1980. Kelvin Flats were demolished in 1995 & the pub closed in 2009

Blimey, you wait years to attend a turntable-based sound installation and then two turn up on the same night in the same city. Luckily, the event timings and a less than 10-minute travel time between venues means that both are do-able! Hurrah!

The sleeves for the forthcoming #WetMan release (limited edition lizard green 7" #lathecut record) aren't going to cut and glue themselves! I'd better get on with it!

Temperature inside the “Carve Cave” is about 9 degrees C at present. Luckily the radiator in there is controlled by a phone app, so it should be pretty cosy by the time I’ve finished breakfast. Today’s task - cut a few more “lizard green” Wet Man 7” singles
