Kids are not trying to manipulate you or do it for attention, they are trying to get their needs met.

Had a message off my son's school. He's read 1.3 million words this academic year. He's amazing and I'm so so proud.

🧵1-The Stubbornness Boomerang When you refuse to let your kids "get their own way," you’re teaching them to be just as stubborn as you. The harder you push, the harder they push back. The more you dig in, the more they resist.

As a parent we need to act as a container to hold all of our kids emotions, until they are ready to handle them on their own.

What happens when you hit ice and steer the wrong way? Now what happens when you get into a battle with your kids? Steer into the emotion it's emotionally safer for everyone involved. What have you noticed when you've fully accepted your kids feelings?

If you can't tolerate sadness, shame or anger, you won't tolerate it in your kids. Do you get triggered with these emotions and do you see a pattern in your behaviour? #fatherhood #parenting

Hey Dad, Life is easier with a plan. Reflect on those times where you feel you been pushed to your limit. Recognise those patterns so you can intervene before you ‘lose it'.

We need to think of parenting as being in a relationship as opposed as a task to do. Your child is a person not a chore.

This brings back memories.
