Oh no, it's the unbearable Interdimensional Karen: a floating head that pops in, blocks your view & demands “to talk to the manager!”. Hilarious yet infuriating, still deciding if she stays or gets yeeted back to her own dimension. #gamedev

Between interviews and life events, I finally pinned down the menu revamp! Sleeker UI, easier visual tweaks, and a hefty "under the hood" rewrite. Graphics/UI will still evolve, but now I’m shifting to fresh level challenges, new hazards & objectives beyond enemy mobs. Onward!

Update: Testing a lot of new things. barrels, environment stuff, invisible walls, flying swords for melee. a not yet working grid duality mesh system for better visuals. Probably moving back to load multiple level chunks in one instead of adding/removing them on the "go"

Updating from Godot 4.2 to Godot 4.3 creating weird glitches in my sprite animations. Anyone else experienced this?

Learning and playing with water shaders and approaches from different sources just to find out i can't use certain effects like foam and ripples in Mobile mode in Godot4.2, just in Forward+ the way i'm doing it right now.

After this I'll maybe get a whiteboard

Not sure if this is getting somewhere, but lets see

Create 3d coin with a.i: 1) Generate e.g a roman texture in black/white 2) Select the paths of white or black shape 3) Convert the selected paths to svg 4) import in blender and use the Data Object Geometry Selection to extrude and bevel. 5) Convert to mesh

Game Update: .) Refactoring mostly to Ray-cast Nodes for visibility (not sure if this is affecting performance vastly more) .) Add skill tree menu, which seems to almost work flawlessly .) Add saving of skill system data .) first implementation for save states in general

Class-based or skill-based system? Because overthinking game design choices feels as timeless as ancient history

Updating to a few first 3D designed projectiles with effects. Shout-out to x.com/Le_x_Lu for his comprehensive guides/tutorials on effects and visual shaders in Godot 4. Probably gonna stick to those tutorials for the next 2 or more weeks :)

Playing around with camera panning effects

last update 2024: .) Change game mechanics to turn based selection .) when an enemy dies, no enemy attack happens. .) all attacks happen simultaneously when the timer ends or when the player selected all enemies in a group .) Fix enemy grouping by spatial proximity calculation.

Memo to myself -> Godot 4 signals work in mysterious ways. Don't put them in a base class you extending from. There might be confusion and signals not emitting/triggering

When you have a lot of scripts opened but also a few documentation pages, the editor can be a bit messy. Hopefully I've just discovered you could remove all the documentation tabs in a click! Never noticed that before hahaha ^^' #GodotTips #Godot #GodotEngine #indiegamedev #gamedev #solodev
