Got my proofs from two different companies recently, KDP (who I use now) & Draft2Digital. Each has some pros & cons. Colors definitely come out different as does the layout. Not sure how to do maps in D2D yet. Not convinced I’ll change that yet, weighing the options.

Currently fighting the urge to hit Publish on a new story that's mostly ready to publish, other than waiting on book proofs from a few companies for comparisons.

If you played MMOs around 2020, you may remember how the population of FFXIV exploded w/ former WoW players after Blizz’s scandals. If @barnesandnoble.com, @draft2digital.bsky.social, IngramSpark, or Lulu have the right setup, I could totally see them scooping up indie authors for the same reasons.

Did a first pass at making a map for my next book. Definitely needs a bit more work (and the rest of the land will be revealed/updated in a future series), but it's a start for now at least. Thoughts?

Getting close to publishing my next story, but I’m at a bit of a crossroads as to how to do it. Most of my books have had at least one run on KU first with a freebie special at launch, but I’ve been taking everything wide lately. So how should my next book launch? KDP exclusive or wide to start?

Just got to take advantage of one of the most unexpected joys of being an author: checking out my own book from the library! Well...from the library app, but still! Absolutely a recommended experience if you're an author who has gone wide with your books!

Got my copy of @catvoleur.bsky.social’s Covered in Darkness book “A Better Place” the other day. It’s an absolutely fantastic head trip of a book that absolutely makes you think!

Usually, my stories all start out with a bit of a vague concept, like an AI running for President. From there, I'll start planning a handful of scenes while walking my dogs while starting the story on the page. From there, it's a mixture of pantsing my way to those scenes & plotting new scenes.

Spent a bunch of tonight going through an old RPG Maker project I made years ago. Definitely still pretty rough dialogue & bug-wise, but I every so often ponder trying to bring that story to life either in book format or trying to finish the game.

Given the news lately, this seems as good a time as any to share the dedication of Cora Christensen.
