Book number 101 of the year: “My Friends” by perennial favorite Frederick Backman. It earned one of my coveted five star reviews, which i’m sure is a true honor for him. I absolutely could NOT stop listening and was sad when it was over. SO GOOD.

11yo is having a sleepover for her bday, so we’re showing 13yo “The Fugitive”as he hides from them. I’m doing a terrible job of (a) not saying the lines in unison with the movie and (b) not sharing fun facts at random (“did you know TLJ is 4 years younger than Harrison Ford??”)

If you haven’t seen KPop Demon Hunters yet I really cannot overemphasize hoe much you need to watch it. Especially if you have a daughter! Watch it together and revel in the independent ladies who support each other and are not carbon copies of each other!

I took the dogs with me this morning to empty the three death lanterns so they understand our harsh family policy on bugs

10yo got to pick the second movie of the evening and she picked Kpop Demon Hunters, which she has reportedly seen 4 times. It was a BLAST and I immediately demanded she find us YouTube tutorials on how to do any of the dances featured in the movie

Showing 10yo “Happy Gilmore,” which we watched a thousand times in college. I know it by heart, but also it’s the first movie I had a bunch of audio snippets from (courtesy of Napster) on my computer—ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME? ANSWER ME!—which makes it a real artifact of the era

Friends, this weekend we are headed to the same location where I took this celebratory photo at the end of last year. Yesterday, I finished book 87 of this year. I am QUITE PROUD OF MYSELF

Guys, I just made a comment to 13yo about a 9-part series about the Roman empire and he deadpanned “oh that’s what Gladiator 2 is” (having just watched it on the plane) and I said ARE YOU NOT INFORMED??? and he didn’t laugh
