Spent the day in the beautifully located Archive of the Nobility in Toledo, reading eighteenth-century letters by noblemen and women suffering from fevers, exchanging recipes for febrifuges, laments, and well-wishes.

Most #archives of the French #Caribbean colonies are stored at the ANOM, but records on the health of enslaved people are rare. Today, I came across a 'journal d'hôpital' from a so-called plantation hospital in 1789, difficult but important material to study with @feverprojecthd.bsky.social.
